I had gotten off the plane just a few seconds ago, during the flight I was sat next to this sweet woman Ava and her son Erin. Erin was seven years old and he did not like heights, so most of the flight he was pretty well behaved and polite.
Ava was in her late twenties. She was also from Michigan! During her high school years she moved to Syracuse for a fresh start where she met Erin's dad Cameron.
"So what takes you back home to Michigan Veronica?" Ava asked me.
"Close friends of mine! they invited- well, insisted. I go with them on a ski trip vacation while I'm out of college for the summer." I replied with a smile.
"Well let's exchange contacts. I'd like to get in touch with you again when your back" She smiled at me warmly.
"It would be so nice to have a friend in Syracuse with the same roots I do! Not to mention, Erin loves you." Weboth laughed at her last comment before exchanging numbers.
She wasn't lying when she said Erin loved me, he was sat between the two of us during the flight to keep him from panicking. However they're were some moments he was obviously anxious and well, bored.
So I'd talk to him to keep him distracted or I'd let him play games on my phone with me and watch movies and Shows. That was until he asked me to put on Bluey, and within Five minutes we both were out cold.
About a hour later Ava was gently shaking me to wake me up.
"Hey, it's time to wake up Veronica, we just landed." She said in a soft tone.
"Wow, I didn't think I'd fall asleep that fast. It was a much needed nap though"
I laughed at my own joke knowing once I was in the same place with Jack and Luke Hughes, napping would be out of the question.
"Hah! I could tell, thank you for your help with Erin too by the way. You are a life saver Veronica." Ava said responding to my joke.
"Oh please, anytime. Erin was a little angel compared to the boys I grew up with." I said truthfully.
"I can't wait to see him again next time." I smiled at her and then continued.
"Oh and please- my friends all call me Roni or Vi. "Veronica" feels too long and formal." I chuckled.
"Well then! Roni it is!"
She smiled while we both started collecting our carry ons and made our way to get off the plane. I hugged both Ava and Erin as we got out into the terminal and we said our goodbyes.
Erin didn't want to at first but after I promised him I'd FaceTime him and his mom tonight before he went to bed, he finally said goodbye and was off to find his luggage with his mom.
Once the two were out of sight I sent a text to the Hughes group chat.

Roni He guys! Just updating you guys. I just landed, I'm about to grab my suitcase and go get my rental.
Quinny No need for that, I'm out front waiting for you.
Roni You always were the prepared brother.

Quinny I couldn't let you get the first hug mom. You'd squeeze her to death before any of us got to give her one.
I laughed turning my phone off and put it into my pocket and making my way out front, at the group chat continued to go crazy. Quinn and I were always the closest growing up.
Maybe because we were the closest in age or maybe it was because of our shared love for naps. Nobody really knew why, all we knew was that we were inseparable.
While I was lost in thought somehow before I knew it the automatic doors at the front of the airport were opening. I looked around a bit and just to my right standing there was the one and only Quinn Hughes.
What I wasn't expecting however was right next to him, towing over him might I add. Was non other than Luke Warren Hughes.
"Roni!!" Luke screeched out speed walking over to me and latching onto me.
Followed right after him I felt another set of arms reach out me from behind making this a group hug. Me, Luke and Quinn stood like this for a solid Five minutes in silence.
Nobody wanting the moment to end, this was when I finally realized.
