Rohan always lived in the present, and looked down upon the people who were stuck in their past. In fact, he looked down upon many people. He had a habit of putting himself first, building a confident and selfish persona. He never made any effort to try and change, to become 'better' as a person.

Going back to how he hated living in the past, no one knew anything else about Rohan beside his current life and success as a mangaka. Few people knew he grew up in Morioh, but he never spoke about his childhood. Many would think he grew up spoiled, which is why he acts so egocentric in the present. Rohan made no effort to correct anyone, or to give any information about how he grew up. He preffered staying quiet about it, and simply ignoring people who made assumptions. He didn't like living in the past, or remember it at all.

Rohan's childhood was spent, most of his early years at least, with Reimi Sugimoto, a young lady who offered to babysit him. His parents didn't make much effort to raise him themselves. They were wealthy enough and could afford a babysitter, they better and more important things to do.

His future was planned out from before he was even born. Once he got old enough and graduated from a good college, he'd take over the company that his father ran. He'd create a good image for their name. That was his only purpose.

Rohan's parents were dismissive about his interests and overall opinions, Rohan did not like spending time with them, and preferred being with Reimi more than anything else. He wished they'd at least show some interest in him, but that remained a wish.

In the eyes of Rohan's parents, as long as they gave food, water and a roof over his head, Rohan didn't need anything else. Getting a babysitter wasn't even the parents' choice, an extended family member recommended it, which is why they hired Reimi.

Rohan sometimes spent the night at the Sugimoto household, it was so much better there. The people were much nicer to him, and actually engaged in conversations with him. At home, he felt hopeless, weak. His family was intimidating, yet he always felt obligated to listen and obey. He felt inferior.

Rohan had always taken liking to art, and ways preffered drawing instead of learning about their family buisness. His parents didn't think much of it at first, but it would soon become a problem.

The worst day of Rohan's life was the day of Reimi's murder. He can still remember it clearly. Her last words that she said to him. He felt guilty for a long time. Thinking that if he was at his own home that night, Reimi could've escaped and lived. If he didn't exist in that moment, Reimi would've been alive and well. He had no one anymore to support his choices. No one he could show his drawings and paintings to. Reimi was always happy to hear about Rohan's ideas, and has complimented his skills in art and storytelling. She told him that he could become a manga artist, the still young child only laughed, thinking it was a silly thing to be.

His parents were not happy when Rohan finally spoke up about his the career path he wanted to take. They lashed out, saying that art will get him nowhere, telling him how much effort they've put in his education, only for him to be so ungrateful and throw it all away. At first, he believed them. He was almost ready to give it all up. Still, something inside him couldn't let go of this passion.

Unfortunately, he had to speak up about this once again one day, sooner later, before he'd be forced to take a career he didn't want. Still, he had a realisation at some point. He'd told Reimi about it one day. As a child, he always preferred keeping his hair short, even though his family told him how pretty he'd look with long hair. They bought him dresses, he never wore any of them, unless they forced him on it.

At around 13, his mother wanted to introduce Rohan to makeup. At first, he seemed curious. Then, when he looked in the mirror after his mother had made him look more pretty and feminine, he immediately dropped the idea. His mother argued that he was always so masculine. How he doesn't even look like their daughter anymore. It hurt to hear those words, it made him feel bad for her. He was inferior to them, so he had to do as they pleased. He was weak beside his parents, he held no power.

He tried to be their daughter, he started wearing feminine clothes and makeup, he let his hair grow long. It all felt wrong, he felt locked up. It was horrible. He had enough at some point. He told himself that when he turns 18, he'd tell them that now, as an adult, he could choose what he wants to do with his own life. How he wasn't their daughter.

Whenever they found him drawing, he'd get scoled, even hurt, sometimes. They called it "parenting", that that was how they grew up too. He could barely keep his art safe, most of it ended up ripped appart, burnt or thrown away. He'd cry, but that only made it worse, so he learnt to keep it inside.

He grew impatient. He was 16 when he made his choice. It was a mistake, it all became a chaos. His father was mad and shouting, his mother was crying. His father yelled at him, telling him he's mentally ill, telling him that they'd get him a therapist and that he should return to his senses. His mother kept asking herself "where did she go wrong?", "how could she fail as a mother?"

Rohan had enough. Enough of being inferior. Enough of feeling weak. Enough of living in fear. Enough of having to hide his true self. Enough of being told what to do. Enough of having others pick and choose for him. Enough of being locked up in this prison. Enough of having his drawings be ripped appart and thrown away. Enough of this "family".

He felt fear the whole time, it was something he wished he got over, but living his whole life like that, it was hard to let go of the idea that they could hurt him at any time.

They had enough too.

"Get out."

He had to leave. It shocked him, how they'd just kick him out like that. Part of him was glad he could leave, but the other knew he couldn't survive on his own. He was barely 16 when he left his household.

He managed to find a job, luckily he could get employed at that age. He could could pay his rent, but could barely afford food afterwards. Still, somehow, on his own, he made it. In his free time, he tried selling his art for cheap. It worked, kind of. Sales were rare, but when he got lucky, he'd sell one or two pieces.

He started saving up for more ustensiles he'd use for art. For clothes and food. It was a slow process, and he'd feel greatful if he even woke up the following day. Still, somehow, he lived through it. He saved up enough to move from the town, and start an art buisness. He started his famous mamga series, and eventually got to where he currently is.

He cut his hair short, shorter than he ever had it. He bought his own clothes, ones that he liked. He changed his name. Fully.

He changed his body, he felt happy.

He managed to get a stable life, and thought about returning to Morioh. He had so many bad memories there, but that's where he met Reimi too, and he wanted to visit her grave, at least one last time.

So, although he is selfish, egocentric, there is a reason to that.

He lived his whole life having to obey, felling weak. Now that he has the possibility of being strong, he doesn't want to let that go. Because it could be taken away from him at any time.
