"If she's after me, she'll be after Claire more," I said as panic tightened my chest, "I've never done anything to her other than marrying into the Brazil family. In her eyes, Claire stole Luca from her."
"My god," he said grabbing his cell from the bedside table and dialing Luca's number. After a few moments, he stared at the phone, blinking, "No one is answering the phone," Bo said, rising and putting on a pair of jeans and a shirt before dialing again. He paced before he stared at the screen, his brow furrowed.
"Maybe Claire is okay," I said but I knew it was a lie as I rubbed my hands over my arms trying to warm them but goosebumps still broke out over my skin.
"If Mary is able to enter dreams, she isn't," he said, gritting his teeth, "I have to go to their house and I can't leave you here."
"I'll go with you," I said, rising from the bed to put on clothes. He bit his bottom lip as his face continued to darken. A tremble shook down his back as the scent of his wolf permeated the air.
"You can't leave my side," he said, his eyes wide and fearful, "The Grey Wolves like to attack at night and you haven't transitioned."
"I won't leave you," I whispered as my heart sped up, "I promise."
He nodded as he took my hand but turned back to me, his cheeks reddening, "If anyone is out there, I will have to transition," he said, his face darkening with fear, "It's the only time you should run from me. I don't have full control of my wolf yet. Get help if that happens and get to safety."
I nodded as I squeezed his hand, "I will but hopefully, it won't come to that," I said, my brows furrowing. A tremble slid through me as I feared for my safety but more than anything or anyone else, I feared for Bo.
"Don't be worried, Sasha," he said, his eyes darkening and though he was still worried himself, determination was there too, "I won't let anything happen to you."
"I'm not so worried about me," I said as tears burned my eyes.
A smile tilted his lips chasing away some of the darkness, "Are you worried about me, Sasha?"
"Of course," I said, swallowing over the hard lump in my throat as I shivered again.
"Enough to cry?" He asked cupping my cheek in his hand. I opened my mouth but I couldn't tell him how I felt when I wasn't sure he felt the same, "It's okay...You don't have to answer...Just tell me how many spaces I can move to be your favorite person."
I met his eyes as a tear fell down my cheek, "Just stay safe and you can have the first spot."
His lips twitched into a full grin as he kissed my forehead before grabbing my hand, "I'll stay safe," he said and opened the door pulling me out into the darkness of the motorhome park.
**********
We were silent as we made our way to the center of the park, moving through the motor homes toward Claire as quietly and unseen as possible. I straightened as an ungodly sound echoed around us, rising until my eardrums pulsed threatening to break. I blinked realizing the sound we were hearing were the screams of every person within the park trapped within dreams where the Grey wolves tortured them.
I covered my ears as they rose to a crescendo, echoing around me. Bo squeezed his eyes shut as we moved to the first trailer...The trailer where Garridan lived and banged on the door.
He answered, his eyes bleary with interrupted sleep. He rubbed his hand over his face, trying to wipe away his own dream but a wild look remained as he glanced beyond us. I studied him realizing he had already woken before we knocked and had thrown on a pair of jeans and a shirt. His boots were still untied.
"What the hell is going on?" He asked, his body shaking. His face was pale in fear.
"Did you have a nightmare?" Bo asked, breathless.
Garridan frowned, nodding, "How did you-"
"Mary can use the beckoning to enter dreams," Bo interrupted him, swallowing as the screams ended.
"But it wasn't Mary I saw," he whispered, "It was Eva and the men who...hurt Mirella. I relived...Everything."
Bo's eyes widened, "Then, Mary has taught the Grey wolves how to enter our dreams."
"Then who visited the others?" I asked trembling.
Garridan's eyes widened, "Mirella," he said, rushing past us toward the trailer where she had been staying with Stefan, Fiona and Ion since our wedding."
"Shit," Bo said, running his hand through his hair as he grabbed my hand with his free one, "We still have to tell the others. We have to get to Luca and Claire. Mary will want to hurt them more than anyone else."
As we raced toward Claire and Luca's trailer a howl moved through the air, mocking us because whether we were awake or asleep we weren't safe. If we weren't safe even in our rest, they would break us down and defeat us.
