TW : Eating disorder

She had almost starved herself for six months and became precariously underweight. Her body became susceptible to diseases and would fall ill quite often.
The parents were apprehensive about her well-being. More than ever. At least one good thing happened in Arabella's life. She made friends who liked her.

"Arabella, if you skip meals, you are going to face my wrath." Mother spoke through her clenched teeth.
Arabella settled herself and took the first bite. It made her nauseous. Yet, she forced down the food. To please her mother.
But immediately she went to the bathroom and all the contents of her stomach were outside.
She was diagnosed with bulimia and ate more meds than food.

She no longer had chubby cheeks, a wide waist, and jiggly thighs; but swollen jawline and muscle weakness.
Sometimes she would even faint due to fatigue.
Arabella struggled with accepting herself, Mother and father were always worried for her.

This winter there was an improvement in Arabella's condition.
She was eating healthy, falling ill less often, and was in a better mood. The doc started reducing the meds.

"Cariño, when is your fiestas de graduacion?" her mother asked the girl who was engaged in her phone. She might have ignored her call or could not hear, her mother pinched her cheek.

"Ouch!" she exclaimed. She rubbed her cheek even though her mom barely pressed the skin hard enough. "What do you want?"

"When's the fiestas de graduacion?" She was irritated.

"After 2 days" Arabella threw her phone on the coffee table.

"Do you have a dress?" she questioned.

"I don't have a date, why would I care for a dress" she wined, burying her face in a pillow.

"You can go with your friends, it's not necessary to have a date".

"Don't want to" She starts to get up when she hears a knock on the door. "I'll take it".
She opens the door and finds a boy with sandy curly hair and a big grin standing there.

"Matìas, I didn't expect you to show up" She clears her throat "What brings you here?" She puts her hands behind her back, since they were probably shaking.

"Can we talk outside?" He said.

She nods and they both go outside.

Matìas was the hunk in their class and was an adroit surfer. He participated in various surfing tournaments and never came home without the cup.

Arabella's mother could not stop herself and peeped through the window. Even though, most of the stuff was inaudible.

"I know, the whole year we've hardly talked to each other but I admired you, since you were a diligent student, always among the top 10 students and you're also cute. So... will you be my date". Arabella for the first time heard someone call her 'cute' beside her parents.

"Yes," she said, it came out as if she was desperate, and felt embarrassed. He chuckled and said he'll drive her.

"Now, shall we go dress shopping tomorrow?" her mother pops up as soon as she opens the door.

"Yep," she smiled.

The next morning, right after breakfast both hopped in the car and went to the mall. It's impossible to ask the seamstress now since only a day is left.
