It's been 3 years since Lady Carmen took me in, My condition is not all that bad. I'm just isolated from the human world, I work 3 jobs including the chores As a maid. Even if I had tried to live by myself three years ago, it would've been bad, a lot.
My neighborhood was not known for its good reputation, I could have been easy prey for robbers and criminals.Thankfully, Carmen paid a handsome amount of money but all that I used to pay her back, yet not even half of the debt is covered. I've spent sleepless nights just so, I could earn. I could not even go to college.
Carmen owned 100 maids for her enormous villa. She lived alone by herself and sometimes her son would visit from overseas, who was pretty young just 5-6 years older than me.
My friends and matìas tried very hard to get in contact with me, but I was too embarrassed, and now they've given up.
I sighed and got up as my boss called. "Arabella, I need my whiskey".
"Yes, ma'am" Her behavior instantly changes when I put on these button-ups and pants. She didn't treat me differently just because I knew her, but a little more harshly than others.
She takes the glass and downs it on the floor "Sorry, my hand slipped" She even drops the glass now, shattering the shards on my feet.
"I'll take care of it" I crouch down and cut my finger, blood oozes out and drips on the floor.
Carmen allows me to put a band-aid first.
When I go upstairs, I find my room a mess, no other maid had the keys. I wondered how could this happen, at the sight of my unlocked window, I came to the conclusion that an animal might have invaded the place... but it was otherwise, Just like in the stories and movies, it was a reddish brown creature with wings! And fangs!
It was an imp!
The creature was drooling when it glanced at me. I staggered and tried to reach the door, but it bit my wrist and I groaned in agony.
The excruciating pain made my hand numb. Tears welled up in my eyes.Even though my vision was blurry, I could see something else, coming inside my room.
I think I know him. His face was familiar. He advanced towards me and grabbed the imp by his head and detached it from its body.
I gasped In horror, I tried stepping back. But the damn wall made me confined inside with this crazy creature who was killing this imp.His topaz eyes were glistening in my dingy room. He turned towards me.
"Stay away from me" I whimpered.
He holds my hand where the imp bit me and licks it. I close my eyes not being able to digest the sight.
He tears my bedsheet and wraps the piece of cloth around the wound...
"Let's go" He starts to drag her out the window. I use my whole body weight to stop.
"Where? Why? Who are you?" I said in one breath.
"I can't answer all your questions, it's too dangerous here." He pulls me but I fight back. "Don't test my patience, Arabella". How did he know my name? All of a sudden the memory of the strange man comes to my mind like deja vu.
I hold onto the bed, knowing damn well he could tear me just like the imp. But he does not.
Instead, he warns me again and again."Why are you so stubborn?" He swings me up on his shoulder. Turning my world upside down.
"Where are you taking me it's a simple question and why were you at my parents' funeral?" I hit him with my legs and hands, but it didn't affect him.
"So, you saw me". He chuckled.
