After that, they went to the hospital to get his injuries checked. After citing the boy's situation to the doctor, Johannes had undergone several examinations. Finally, the doctor revealed the results.

"Based on his medical examination and test results, it appears that the patient has Retrograde amnesia."

"Retrograde...amnesia?" Luna repeats, frowning at the unfamiliar words as if it bring a bad omen.

"Yes. Retrograde amnesia is a condition where you experience memory loss for events and information that occurred before your head injury. In the patient's case, the fall from the tree and hitting his head on a boulder likely caused this memory loss."

She took a sorrowful glance at the kid beside her, realizing how serious his situation is. Then she looked back at the doctor. "Is his amnesia severe?"

"We conducted various assessments to reach this diagnosis, including evaluating his medical tests, performing physical examinations, and possibly using imaging studies. While the exact cause and severity may vary, rest assured that retrograde amnesia can often improve with time and supportive care." She lets out a sigh of relief as she heard this, but it still won't bring her reassurance about the kid's condition.

"Doctor, Is there any way to treat his amnesia?"

"In some cases, cognitive rehabilitation or medications may be recommended to aid in his recovery. We will work closely with you to develop an individualized treatment plan and provide support throughout his healing process."

After learning about his condition, she thanked the doctor and left the hospital with the kid.

The two walked along the sidewalk in silence. She frowned, deep in thought. 'Retrograde amnesia, huh? He must have been through a lot in the past.'

She took a glance at his innocent face. 'I don't know what happened to him, but I promise I'll do my best to help him retrieve his memories.'

"Mommy? Are you okay?" he asked, wondering why she suddenly got silent.

"Ah, yes! I was just wondering if you're hungry." Luna says as she walked along the quiet sidewalk with him, devoid of people.

"A little." He pats his tummy.

"Do you prefer eating outside or homemade?" she put her arm on his shoulder, holding him gently while walking.

"Homemade! I wanna eat Mommy's cooking again!" Johannes's eyes lit up, grinning excitedly.

"Fine! Let's hurry home. I'm starving too."

A few minutes later, they finally arrived at their house.

"We're home." Luna breathes out, grateful to be home at last. "Hah, I'm exhausted." He mutters as he plops down on the couch. She chuckled at his antics.

"Hehe. Me as well. Phew, please let me rest for a while." She said as she drops her exhausted body on the couch, and looks up at the ceiling. "Wait, come to think of it... I never knew your name."

"Eh? But I still can't remember it." He mumbles, looking sadly at the ceiling.

"It can't be helped then. Oh! How about I decide on a temporary name for you?" Luna grins, excited to come up with a new name for him.

"Okay!"

"Hmm...Ah! How about Evryle? It sounds quite cute to me."

"No, it sounds girly... I prefer something cooler." He grimaced at the name. "Oh I see...uh, Prince?" she smiles.

He shakes his head. "It's childish."

"Jasper?"

"I'm not a ghost." Johannes frowns, he needs something cool-sounding.

"Levyne?" she muttered, starting to feel irked. "Not bad, but no."

'Hah, this kid's too picky!' she grumbles. "...Juan?"

"...." All of a sudden, the boy went quiet.

"How about it?" she smiles a little.
'I guess it sounds cool though. And quite nostalgic, since it was my past childhood friend's name. Too bad I can't remember his face anymore.'

While she was deep in thought, he suddenly spoke up. "...that name...."

"Huh?"

"It's a bit interesting, but...sounds cool."

"Thank goodness you liked it. It was the name of the most precious person for me." Luna said as she clutched her chest. She missed the times when the two of them played together as kids.

"Precious person? Who?"

She smiles gently with a faraway look in her eyes. "...It was the name of my first love."

"...Your first...love?" he repeats, the words sound strange to him.

"Yes, he is-" Her words were cut off when she heard a knock on the door. "Oh. Just a minute..."

"Okay Mommy, I'm going to the toilet first." He nods, and she heads towards the door.

As she opens the door, she was stunned when suddenly a suspicious guy pointed a gun at her head.

"Where is the kid?" he sneered at her, pressing the gun to her temple.

"?!" she froze, her body immediately going high alert.

The other men restrained her hands behind her with a rope and pulled her across the living room.

"I repeat, where is the kid?" he pressed, glaring coldly at her.

'Thank god he went in the bathroom, that'll be enough to give me some time to think.' She thought, thinking of a way to escape.

The guy kicked her gut and forcefully pinned her head on the floor with his foot. She remained quiet.

"Tell us or I'll blow your brains out."

But then they heard some approaching footsteps. "Mommy?" Johannes murmurs, trying to process what's happening.

"Get him!!" the guy ordered to his men.

'NOW!!' She used the boy's arrival as a distraction and forcefully raised her head. The guy was caught off guard and almost lost his balance.

Luna stood up to kick him off harshly and rushed into a nearby vase atop the table and breaks it with force. The vase got shattered and she used the broken piece to cut the ropes.

The guys shoot at her, but her body evaded it with ease and kicked the gun off of one of the man's hands.

The other men attack her, and realizing the ropes are already loose enough, she slipped her hands off of it and rolls her swollen wrists as she avoided their attacks.

'Too slow.' She thinks, harshly kicking the other man's chest, making him fly off from the force.

She then pulled off the gun from one of the guy's holsters and shoots the men on their heads.

The remaining guy carried Johannes' unconscious body and rushes towards the door, but she grabs the dagger from a dead guy's hand and aimed into the man's nape.

The dagger stabs his nape and pierces through his neck, the blood spraying out.

The lifeless man's body drops down the floor unceremoniously, the unconscious kid falling with him.

She gets there in time and catches the kid in her arms.
