I leaned my head against hers and gave her a small kiss on the forehead. I looked up at the night sky and smiled. They did shine a lot bright tonight than any other. Before long, a heard Astacia breathing heavily, indicating that she was asleep. I looked at her innocent face and smiled at how innocent she looked. Who would have the heart to torture such a beautiful and young five-year old? I felt a strange urge to protect her with my life.
"No one will every hurt you again. Not under my watch. You are now my life, dearest Astacia."
In that moment, I saw the slightest rising of the corners of her lips. I realized that the poem described her. Her gift making others as envious as poison. Her appearance as haunting as darkness. Her temper as scorching as fire. And her personality as mysterious as shadows. But most of all, she forgot one part. Astacia Jane Secret.....your are as innocent as a little child.
