"You know, there are also good things in this world. There's laughter. And hope. And love," I said.
She gave me a bitter laugh.
"My laughter stopped ringing once my family was brutally murdered and I was endlessly tortured. I lost hope in that lab being nothing but an anger releasing device. All the people whom I love and loved me were torn apart, piece by piece and tossed for the dead. You tell me, Alec. What good things are left for me?" she whispered, tears pricking the corners of her eyes.
"You still have me," I said, pulling her close to me and promising to never ever let go.
I will give her laughter.
I will give her hope.
And above all, I will give her my love.
Love isn't about dying for your soulmate.
Love is about prolonging the time you have with them.
