My name is Emily B. Harthwan, and I am a normal, everyday sixteen year old. But don't worry, this story has a twist to it. My story starts with the rain.
It was pouring that night, and we had all gotten back from my brothers funeral. Yep, he died of lung cancer at age 14. He was my only friend, and he was gone. After the funeral, I went up into my room and cried till I had no more tears to spare. Once I was done, the rain cried for me. I could hear its screams through the wind.
I never wanted to show my face in public again. I never wanted to look at myself in the mirror again. I just wanted to stay in my room and have the rain cry and the wind scream for me. But I knew that couldn't happen. I would have to go out into the world again, and face the pain head on. And to tell you now, I'm so glad I did.
Two years later now, I was still in my room. I haven't gone outside since, and I was a milky white. I haven't seen the sun or the sky of the flowers in two years. I had forgotten what color looked like, and I was waiting to die.
One day, my father came upstairs. I thought he was there to drop off my lunch, but he came up with nothing. "Honey," he said. "It's time to go outside again." I didn't even have to think about my answer. "No." It was that simple. I never wanted the world to hear the name Emily B. Harthwan again. "No more buts." he scolded. "Look at you. Your like a ghost." "Well that's comforting." I said sarcastically. Why is it now that he decides it's time for me to come out? "Now!" He screamed. Ok that scared me. reluctantly, I dragged myself down the stairs. I had forgotten what the kitchen looked like. There was my 5th grade project, and...a picture of me and my brother. I looked away immediately. I walked outside and...
