"Momma! Papa! Let's go! Let's go!" The little girl shouted happily. She was holding one of each of her parents' hands. She was trying so hard to drag them and force them to adopt a faster pace, but she was failing miserably.
"Alright, alright," said her father, but he didn't even bother to walk any faster. They would get there soon enough.
The laughter and shrill shrieks of other children started to come into earshot. The little girl giggled and tore away from her parents' grip. She ran in the direction of the noise, her raven hair flying behind her.
"Don't go too far, Hatsune!" shouted the brunette woman, but the girl had already left. The command fell on deaf ears.
"Just let her go," the man said, "She's always excited for the playground."

Hatsune ran and ran until the swings and slides came into view. She stopped for a moment to let out a gasp of wonder, then darted to the swing set, her favorite.
She hopped on and began pumping her legs. I'm five now, she thought, I can do it myself.
As she stared across the playground she happened to notice a particular black haired boy sitting on a bench. He wasn't playing, just sitting there watching the other kids with a bored expression. Hatsune frowned slightly. It didn't make sense to her that someone wouldn't want to play on the playground.
So the ravenette stopped pumping her legs and came to a gradual stop on the swing. She slid off the swing -it was a bit high for her- and walked over to the boy.
"Konichiwa!" Hatsune chirped, startling the taller boy, "My name's Hatsune. What about you?"
The boy just stared at her with that same surprised look.
"Ano..."
That seemed to have gotten him out of his trance, for he blinked and mumbled something.
"Gomen," Hatsune said and then cupped a hand around her ear, "I didn't hear you."
"Kokoro," he grumbled. 'Kokoro' was obviously annoyed that he had to repeat himself.
"Hi Kokoro!" chirped Hatsune, completely oblivious to the boy's attitude, "You wanna play?"
"No," he deadpanned.
"But why not?"
"I just don't."Hatsune pouted a bit, but didn't push the charcoal haired boy. She decided to find another playmate instead.
She meandered about for awhile- still unsuccessful in her search- until she noticed Kokoro sliding down a plastic slide with a wide grin on his face.
Hatsune frowned. So, he would play alone but he wouldn't play with her?"Hey!"
Her yell caught the boy's attention. He looked at her with pure confusion.
Hatsune put her hands on her hips and narrowed her cerulean eyes. "I thought you didn't want to play."
The boy furrowed his brows, even more confused. "I never said that," he denied, "And I've never even talked to you before.""Yes you have!" She retorted. First he rejects her offer to play, then he denies even talking to her in the first place! How rude!
"We talked at that-" the young girl stopped when she looked at the bench to find the same boy she was talking to at this very moment, except he held a blank expression instead of one filled with emotion, "...bench."
Hatsune whipped her head back and forth between the two. Two? There were two of them?"That's my twin, Kokoro," The boy on the slide said then pointed to himself, "I'm Hibiki."
"H-Hatsune."Hibiki walked over to Hatsune and grabbed her hand. Her blue eyes landed on him and gave him a quizzical glance. He just grinned and began guiding her over to his identical twin.
Kokoro heard footsteps, so he looked in that direction to see the girl from earlier and his brother. Now it was the stoic boy's turn to be confused.
Hibiki released the girl's hand and reached out to tap his twin's shoulder.
"Tag."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hatsune's parents had finally arrived at the playground -having taken their time- and began searching for their daughter. They saw her running around and giggling and laughing, but what was she running from?
Soon, a boy was shoulder to shoulder with the girl, also laughing. An identical boy was tailing them yelling, "Get back here!" He didn't seem near as amused, but a smirk was working its way onto his face. The two adults blinked at each other, then smiled. They figured their outgoing daughter would make friends easily.
Some children began to leave the play equipment and head towards a woman off to the side. Her dirty blonde locks were pulled into a neat bun and she wore a nice brown jacket and skirt. Hatsune noticed Hibiki and Kokoro frown at her. They slowed their pace to look at the woman.
"Hibiki! Kokoro! Come on now!" She called. However, the twins did not acknowledge it.
Kokoro walked up to Hatsune and whispered, "C'mon. Let's keep playing."
"But the lady-" Hatsune began, but stopped when Kokoro tapped her shoulder and said, "You're it," then ran. The little girl, of course, gave chase."Hibiki and Kokoro Akamine!"
The boys stopped in their tracks and slowly faced the older woman, who was now on the playground. Hatsune also stopped and walked over just in time to hear, "Honestly you two! You know we have to get back to the orphanage!"
Hatsune's heart broke at those words. They didn't have any parents...The twins started walking away, but stopped at Hatsune's call, "Matte!"
She ran up to Kokoro and wrapped her arms around him for a hug. His eyes widened in shock.
"I'll see you later, ne?" Hatsune questioned into his shirt, making her voice muffled.
"Y-yeah..."
Hatsune released him and hurried to hug the other twin. Hibiki immediately hugged her back, and the two exchanged similar words. The raven haired girl took a few steps back and waved.
"Jaa ne!"
The three were inseparable ever since.
