Finals Week
"Hey Bey? Can I see your Psych notes?" I asked turning back to look at my best friend, who's eyebrows were furrowed deeply as she highlighted various lines in her history notebook.
She absentmindedly reached over to her stack of notebooks and books and grabbed a random notebook and handed it to me, never taking her eyes away from her paper. I honestly don't even think she really paid any attention to what I said, I think her brain just heard the request and responded for her. I thanked her although I don't think she heard me at all as I took the notebook from her and turned back around flipped open the pages to find the specific section of notes for my class.
It was the night before finals week and like any other college student, we were cramming and stressing like crazy. Beyoncé had her History final first thing tomorrow morning while I had psychology. We had the same professor, just at different times. Bey and I were Sophomores at Grambling, and we both were Psych majors. We met the first day of school our Freshman year and ever since we've been practically joined at the hip ever since. We lived in the same hall on the same floor, we crossed paths as we were moving in and we both had on the same Miseducation of Lauryn Hill tee shirt. It was a limited edition so to see someone else wearing it was like kindred spirits connecting. That like minded connection, paired with us finding out we were studying the same thing led us to having a conversation, and from there we learned that we shared a majority of our classes together, and from there we learned we had so much in common, and the rest is history.
We developed a close friendship that went beyond a sisterhood. We were like platonic soulmates; we were so in sync sometimes it was scary, it's like we lived in each others heads. She's a Virgo, and I'm a Leo, so I think that draws us together even more. We always knew what each other was gonna say before we said it, and we could feel each other emotionally. She was definitely the yin to my yang and vice versa. What made things even better is the fact that we both hated our roommates, so we all switched, and we became roommates, and even closer.
It kinda scared me in the beginning how connected we were, especially not knowing each other that long, but she made me feel like if there was a person created specifically for me, it would be her. She was literally the Thelma to my Louise, my ride or die. We've been each other's rock, through tough classes, bad grades, even worse flings, and everything life can throw at a college student. I didn't have many friends growing up and neither did she, so us becoming so close was very special to us. We did everything together, hell we even showered together once. Before you get to raising eyebrows we were both running late and we were trying to save as much time as possible. I mean don't get me wrong, my besties is drop dead gorgeous but we have the same parts, it's not anything we haven't seen before. We didn't think anything of it, we've seen each other naked plenty of times. Besides, we were both equally boy crazy, and the way these boys were trying to get with us left and right, understandably so.
