Arushi entered the house with a newfound josh. This was the first thing that had happened after she came to Mumbai that was actually fun.
So she stepped into the room full of strangers and the music was loud.
She saw Ritvik go around the place, saying hi and greeting everyone awkwardly as she stood with Vivek, who had spotted Ritvik from the crowded dance floor. As he had come near them, Ritvik had made some introductions and left.
She stared at the blue and red light tubes that hung around everyones neck and wanted one too. So she turned to ask Vivek where to find one but he was gone. Since she didn't know anyone here, she decided to make some new friends.
The house was huge and had about three rooms on the first floor. All of them had beautiful curtains and one room was almost filled with gaming equipment. It had a proper setup with the pc and two screens that were off.
The next room was similar to a kitchen. It had big shelves and bowls of chips were stocked on the table below them.
Suddenly she felt hungry.
So she roamed into the room and grabbed some. She munched on them as she walked through some other rooms. She found the staircase and climbed to the next floor, where she heard someone hysterically sobbing.
She followed the sound and found Vivek swivelling on a barstool crying and mumbling and somehow still managing to chug down a drink every now and then.
Arushi walked over to him and sat beside. She didn't know much about this guy but he seemed pretty sad. And drunk.
"You seem sad, dude." she said, in the most cheerful way. Vivek looked at her droopily and pouted. Then he stood up and got another bottle of whatever he had been drinking.
"Ah yes, one more drink always helps" but Vivek handed her the bottle and made a gesture which probably meant for her to drink too.
Who was she to deny the host's wishes?
She held the bottle tight and gulped it down. It left her throat burning. She was about to ask him what was in the bottle when Vivek spoke up.
"Do you, by any chance, watch kasauti zindagi kay?"
And after that, it was like Vivek was her best friend.
She sat there for god knows how long, but as she was having her third, no fourth, or fifth bottle, she heard footsteps coming close. She didn't bother to get up but then heard the footsteps stop. She did bother to turn back. It was Ritvik.
a.n: i myself have never watched kasauti zindigi kay
