Deliah's POV
I can't fall asleep, not after all that's happened today. Today was one of the most fun days I've ever had, but Baby kinda ruined it. I just don't understand why she's so clingy. I wish I could talk to someone about this but, no one else would understand but Harry. And I don't think Baby's going to let me speak with him without causing more issues. Unless... What if I go see him now? If I leave during the day tomorrow, Baby will be suspicious, but if I go now, she'll never know I left. The only problem is that she doesn't sleep. So she's somewhere in the house right now. I just don't know where. Actually, she's probably in the backyard. She does her gardening at night for some reason.
I slowly open my bedroom door so I don't make too much noise. Even though I'm avoiding Baby, I don't need Dad to hear me either. I'm just not sure how I'm going to be able to leave. I tiptoe down the stairs and towards the back door. I look outside and can't see anything. The door is unlocked though, so either someone forgot to lock the door, or Baby's outside. I walk to the front door and slowly go outside. Thankfully, Harry only lives a few houses down the street.
I'm glad Harry's house is only one story, or else this would be a lot more difficult. I walk around his house looking into the windows. I think his bedroom is near the back of the house. Eventually, I see his room and walk up to the window. He's laying in bed on his phone. Thankfully he's awake. If I had to wake him up, I'd risk waking up his mom or brother. I knock on his window and eventually, he gets up and opens it. "What the hell are you doing man? It's past midnight."
"I know, it's just that, I could really use someone to talk to."
"Okay, fine", Harry leans against his window. "So what's keeping you up?"
"Well, it's just that Baby and I got into a little argument earlier."
Harry rolls his eyes. "I mean, that was bound to happen. She doesn't seem to be the friendliest."
"I... Never mind. It's just that, she mentioned me locking her away and shocking her."
"That's, like really weird."
"That's not the point. About a week after we met, I had a dream about Baby living in some kind of lab underground. If she didn't perform correctly, she was electrocuted. I'm beginning to think that wasn't just a dream. I think there's something dark going on in that circus."
"And you can't talk to her about it, Harry asks?"
"I wish I could, but you saw her earlier. Anytime someone brings up her past she gets really upset."
"Can't you just go back to the circus and search for answers there?"
"I would but it's too expensive. And if this is actually happening, I probably could access it,"
"Didn't you break in last time 'cause isn't that how you stole Baby?
"Yeah, but the place was closed for maintenance. I don't think I could get back in when it's open."
"Well", Harry paused for a second, like he was thinking about something. "What if I help you?"
"Really Harry? We could get in serious trouble."
"I just think Baby's dangerous, but I'd like to find proof before I accuse her of anything."
"She's not dangerous", I say, "I think she's just had a hard life."
"Anyways, you better get some sleep. I'll come up with a plan okay, so don't you worry about it."
"Thanks, Harry". He's always so nice to me. "I really appreciate it."
"After waving goodbye, I quickly run back home and sneak inside, hoping Dad hadn't heard me. I begin to walk up the stairs only to be stopped by Baby."
"Deliah", Baby says. "What are you doing up so late?"
"Oh, um, I was just looking for you."
"Looking for me? Why would you be doing that?"
"I just um... have always wondered what you do at night. I mean, you can't sleep, so you must do something to keep you occupied."
"Huh, I guess I'll show you. She opens the door and we go into the backyard. I notice Baby is holding something. I understand the garden shears, but the lantern is odd.
"Why do you have a lantern", I asked.
"While I could turn the porch lights on, I don't want to draw too much attention to myself. Someone might see me. It's also kind of cozy to sit outside with no light other than the lantern."
"Is that why you do this at night? So no one spots you."
Baby nods. "I wish I could do this in the day. It would probably be much more fun. But if people saw me, they'd be afraid. Sometimes... I wish I looked like you. Life as an animatronic has its perks sometimes, but trust me, being human would be much better."
This makes me feel really bad for her, to be so human yet be treated like an object. "I just wish people knew you the way I do, you know". I begin to get teary. "It sucks that people would only view you as a monster."
"Oh come on Deliah, don't get all soft on me. Look, I'm fine. I'm happy with my life now. If it wasn't for you, I'd still be in that dingy old storage closet. So even though I have to hide away from people, I'm still the happiest I've ever been. And, I get to spend my day with the best little girl in the world."
That makes me smile. It's funny, just earlier we were having an argument, but now, she's comforting me. I guess it really is just stress that causes her outbursts. I can't believe Harry would think she's dangerous.
"Well now, I guess you should be heading back to bed. Do you want me to tuck you in Deliah?"
"No, I'll be fine, but thank you."
"Goodnight Deliah!"
"Goodnight Baby..."
I go to bed feeling much better than I had before. Baby's not bad, she's just been through a lot. Me and Harry will figure out how to help you, Baby. I promise.
