CHAPTER ONE

"THE DEMOGORGAN"

<><><>

Hawkins, probably the most safest place on earth. Nothing bad would ever happen here.

<><><>

I woke up at 9:30 on Sunday, today my plan is to clean my room and at 8pm make my way over to the Wheelers house where the party was going to be playing D&D. I woke up and put on my clothes for the day.

I walked into the kitchen where my dad was stood holding his head, I hadn't head him get home till around 3am last night, he says hes working late but i know he is at a bar drink his troubles and work away.

"I'm going over to the Wheeler's tonight" I said to him grabbing some toast.

"Are you finally hanging out with Nancy, you haven't spoke to her since Middle school." Me and Nancy fell out around the start of middle school, not anything bad really we just became friends with different people, I became friends with Johnathan Byers and she became friends with Barbara Holland, we just didn't talk anymore.

"No Mrs Henderson asked if I could make sure Dustin gets home safe, I'm going to look after the boys for a bit." I explained, I enjoyed hanging out with the boys they taught me how to play D&D, they give me useless information which I will defiantly not remember or need. Since I became friends with Johnathan and from when I used to be friends with Nancy, I have know them from a young age and their parents trust me enough to babysit them whenever they need.

My dad nodded at me and began walking out the door, ready to go to work. "Madison, I might not be here when you get back later then, but I'll be here when you wake up, so don't worry" There's nothing new there, this happens most nights.

It was now 7:30pm and I was making my way over to the Wheelers house, I didn't have a bike or a car to get there quicker so that's why I set of early for the quite long walk ahead of me.

When I got closer to the Wheeler's house I was startled when about five of the street lights flickered on and off for about 10 seconds straight. I looked around and into the woods next to me there was nothing of the unusual out there. I don't even know why this was scaring me. Hawkins is safe there has been nothing bad that has ever happened here according to my Dad.

I carried on walking, my overthinking thoughts took over my head and in the end I didn't realise I was speed walking, I finally reached the Wheeler's front door and knocked. I was still looking around me, I had a gut feeling something was wrong I just couldn't think what it could be, it was probably just me over thinking about the lights before.

"Madison" A voice came from behind me I spun around quickly to be greeted with Mr Wheeler "sorry didn't mean to scare you" he said at my reaction.

"No, it's me sorry, I'm just a bit paranoid at the moment, I just saw some weird shit" I explained.

"Well the boys are in the basement, and language" he called after me as I made my way to the basement, walking through the kitchen.
