What lies ahead

The group had been traveling for a while, the gas was running low, only three cars were left.

" Fort Benning was close to our house ." Athena said, " that's where we'll head " Rick responded back .

It had bed about an hour since their last stop, Athena was more nervous than anything. Athena sat in the back seat playing with the kids.

Keeping them company was the only thing she could do, the only thing she could do without thinking of her sister.

The car stopped, then began to move on. " It's like a graveyard." Athena said

Dales Van stopped everyone got out their cars, " let's scavenge for supplies ." Andrea said

Athena stayed by the van to help fix it, " your doing it wrong Glenn ." She said taking the tools away from him.

" don't always have to be right you know." He pouted , " No but I like to be "

Glenn rolled his eyes at Athena

" hey are we short on water ?" Shane said

Glenn's face lit up from excitement, the thought of seeing water was amazing, Glenn ran over to it.

Athena stayed put fixing the car, " Walkers ....." Rick whispered to the group.

A whole heard headed towards the group, everyone ducked under the cars. Athena placed under a separate one from Glenn.

Everyone scared of what might happen, Athena looked over to see T-dog bleeding out.

She moved from her spot when Rick motions her to stay put, Daryl had ran to T-dogs help.

Throwing a dead corpse on his body.

Soon the growling started to slow down, everyone thought it was safe. Sophia made her way out when a walker spotted her.

Sophia screamed as she made her way out of the car, Rick following behind her. Athena following behind both of them.

She only could hear the screams, she managed to catch up to them in a river.

" Sophia come here " Athena said

" no we need to lead them away " he told Athena

She hesitated a little bit before nodding in acceptance.

" I'll come back for you " Rick said to her

Athena ran as far as she could leading most of the walkers away, when she finally got them she stabbed them one by one.

After a while Athena went back to the river, the boys all gathered. Sophia was gone.

" Shane, Glenn and Athena go back to the highway get everything situated. " Rick said

" I could have taken her with me."

" Nothing anyone could have done ." He said

Athena knew it was a lie, she could have protected that little girl.

The sun was going down, everyone was tired and sad. Andrea was fighting over a gun that was given to her.

Athena sat on the concrete ground as she couldn't decide what to do, Rick and Daryl came back.

" You didn't find my Daughter?" Carol spoke

Athena got up to comfort the women, " we'll find her in the morning " Athena said, " how could you just leave her out there! "

Carol now crying at the thought of not having her daughter, Athena back away when Carol blamed her for Sophia.
