There was a man in the woods, a bit taller than the average and fairly built. He wore a fur coat and trousers, with dark leather boots. The brown haired man heard a noise unfamiliar to him in these woods, so he walked over to investigate. There he saw was a little girl. She had short black hair and red eyes, as well as eight black wings. Despite him towering over, he had a gentle smile that slightly put her at ease. Seeing he wasn't going to hurt her, Lunexs impulse got the best of her and she bit his hand, before starting to drink his blood. The man groaned in pain, but he continued to smile at her."So your a vampire, huh? You must be thirsty." The man reached into his bag and pulled out a cup, then slit open his hand to drain it. He filled the cup with his blood and handed it over. Lunex looked over at him and hesitantly took the cup, then drank the entire thing.
The man sat down with a thud. "What is your name, little girl? Where are your parents?" The man said in a firm but soft voice, hoping to not startle her.
She replied in a soft voice. "My name is Lunex.....I-I don't know where my parents are. I just saw a blinding light, then I was here." Tears began to well in the little vampires eyes, as if she was trying not to cry.
"That's a nice name, mine is Adam. Since you don't know where your parents are, I suppose you can stay with me. I don't live that much farther. We should get you somewhere warm, that way you don't catch a cold." The man stood up and helped Lunex to her feet. The two began to set off, snow crunching under their feet as they walked through the pinewood forest. Lunex held his hand as to not loose him.
Adam walked slowly towards a snow covered forest. As Adam walked, lunex was looking around, however she didn't know where they were headed. "Hey Adam, where are we going? And why?"
"Shh, we are being followed" whispered Adam. Just as he finished, a man lunged from the shadows with a knife in hand.
"Hehehe... well well well, if it isn't the gentle giant. Oh, and what's this? I didn't take you for someone to kidnap a child" the man cackled. He was thin and relatively short. He had long brown hair and sunken cheeks.
Adam just looked at the man with disgust "I already told you before, if you showed up again you'd come to regret it." Just as he said that he felt a blade against his throat, another man had shown up. Adam couldn't see his face or any discernable features.
Adam grabbed the man's arm and slung him over his shoulder. Then stomped on his face, turning it to mush. The man that had originally attacked started to run. Adam drew his axe and threw it at the fleeing mugger, catching his cloak and pinning him to a tree.
Adam walked over as Lunex closed her eyes and covered her ears. Adam looked at the man and drew a small knife and slit the man's throat, letting him bleed out. Adam brought Lunex over to the dead body, close enough for her to smell the blood. The little bloodstarved vampire looked at the fresh corpse, causing her mouth to water. She bit into the neck, feeding on it until it was just a shriveled up husk.
Lunex let out a yawn and climbed up onto Adam's shoulders and fell asleep.
They continued on before coming to a clearing revealing a small cottage made of stone and wood. Adam opened the door and layed lunex on his bed, then back outside to grab some wood from a cart. He brought it back in, using it to a fire to warm the place from the winter cold. The next morning, Lunex woke up to the sound of chopping wood. She went outside and saw Adam chopping some more firewood. "So your awake Lunex, good morning" he said with a smile on his face.
Lunex walked over, careful not to get too close. "What are you doing?"
"Chopping fire wood."
Lunex just rubbed her eyes and yawned.
"Where are we?" Asked Lunex as she yawned, rubbing her eyes."We are at my cabin, near a small town called winter spire."
The little vampire looked around. "Is there anything I can help with?"
Adam motioned to a nearby log pile
"If you can, mind trying to drag a smaller log here?" Lunex walked over and tried to pick it up, her face turning red as she was struggling to do so. She instead chose to roll it over to him. Adam just picked it up with one hand, he pulled his axe out of the stump and split the new log in two. Adam looked at lunex. "I plan on going hunting later today. Would you like to join me?" Lunex looked up and nodded with a smile. A few hours later Adam and Lunex headed into the forest. After around 2 hours Adam bent down and started examining the ground."What are you doing?" asked Lunex with a confused look on her face.
Adam looked at Lunex "I've found some tracks. From the looks of them....I say a wolf."
Lunex jumped in the air excitedly, however Adam just got up and scowled.
"Is something wrong adam?" Asked lunex who now had a face of confusion."Wolves travel in packs. But I only see tracks for a single one..its....odd, to say the least."
Lunex just kept staring at him. "Maybe it will be easier to catch?"
Adam shook his head. "We need to be careful." They continued walking until Lunex felt something wet drop onto her head she looked up and saw a mangled deer corpse.
Adam continued forward before stopping. The first thing he saw was the fog. It wouldn't have been abnormal, if it had been covering the entire forest like usual. With caution be began to approach, until something rose from the fog. The silloette of the figure rose from the fog. It was deathly thin and had elongated limbs. What scared him the most was the elk like head, with intense purple flames for eyes. With a face of horror he turned and ran, picking up Lunex as he did so."ADAM WHATS WRONG YOUR SCARING ME!" screamed lunex but Adam stayed quiet. A few seconds later she heard a loud roar. It sounded like an elk, but not entirely. It was distorted, and its roar almost sounded as if it called ADAM. Adam just kept running without saying a word. The forest was silent, except for the two of them. It was as if everything around them was dead, the fog now rolling past them as Adam ran for their lives.
They made it to the cabin and in a rush Adam put up charms around the house. He moved the bed and opened a small hatch that lead to a cellar. "Get in now, hurry!" Yelled Adam.
Lunex cried but did as he said. Adam followed behind and slid the bed back over the cellar door, locking it shut from the inside. It was dark and cold. Lunex didn't know what was going on. That was before she heard the roar again but this time it was closer. A few seconds later she heard it again. This time from above the cellar door. The cellar door shook and the ground vibrated as the monsters feet hit the stone floor.
Lunex was about to scream but Adam covered her mouth. Neither dared to make a move, afraid of alerting the creature of their location. With one last roar they heard its footsteps getting quieter, as if it were leaving.
Adam held Lunex in his arms as they stayed there. It was hours before either of them fell asleep. Once they did wake up, Adam let her go, grabbing a spare axe stored away. He barely lifted the door, making sure the beast was gone. Once he was sure, he unlocked it and moved the bed out from above them. "Adam, what was that thing?" Asked Lunex with a shakey and choked up voice.
Adam was looking out the window, looking for any signs of it. "It was a wendigo."
"A wendigo?" Asked Lunex, she was still scared but was trying to hide it.
"They are vicious beasts that used to be human, but have consumed human flesh. They are usually miners or some one else who became trapped and couldn't get back to their camps. When they started to starve they ate their fellow men in order to survive. Since it was a taboo. They became cursed, and what they became was a wendigo." Adam patted her on the head and gave a smile. "Why don't you stay here for the day? I still need to hunt." Lunex gave a silent nod, letting him leave for the day. When he came back, the two ate dinner and turned in for the night, without saying a word.
