A new day had come, casting sunlight onto Lunexs eyes. She rubbed them as she sat up, looking around for Adam. She saw him outside, emptying the cart of the firewood. The little vampire got out of bed and walked over to him. "What are you doing Adam?"The man stopped for a moment and looked at her, wiping sweat from his brow. "Emptying the cart, we'll be heading to Winterspire. We'll be needing to get new materials to rebuild." The two looked at what little was left of the cabin.
Lunex stepped to the side, letting Adam continue to unload it. "What's it like there?" She asked
"You'll see when we get there" Adam replied. Once it was unloaded, Lunex hopped into the cart as Adam began pushing it along. The two were able to see the path the wendigo had made, as it everything around had died by its sheer presence. Lunexs eyes widened in surprise, while Adam steeled himself and pushed on.
As the trees began to thin out, Lunex looked over Adam's shoulder. "Adam, I have a question. Why are you taking care of me?"
Adam looked over his shoulder, looking in her eyes for a moment. "Back when I first built the cabin, I had a family. My beautiful wife, and my little girl who was near your age."
"What happened to them?"
The man stopped as he lowered his head. "It was one of those...a wendigo."
The little girl frowned as she sat down in the cart. "Oh...I'm sorry."
Adam gave a light chuckle. "You didn't do it, so don't worry about it. Plus, I had its head on my wall."
Lunex thought back to the wall mount that was above the fireplace. "Huh, I thought that was a normal elk."
Adam smiled as he looked up to the cloudy sky. "You remind me much of my daughter. She was energetic and kind, just like you."
Lunex got back up in the cart to look at Adam. "What was your like?"
Adam smiled as he began pushing the cart once more. "She was kind and gentle. She was always understanding, even to some who deserved a punch in the face."
"What did they look like?" Lunex asked
Adam hummed as he thought back. "Her hair was a fiery orange, as were her eyes. She stood about five and a half feet. She always wore sundresses, mostly auburn, despite it always being cold here."
"She sounds nice. What did your daughter look like?"
"She had brown hair and orange eyes. She usually wore linen clothes. She was always getting into stuff, so she sometimes would be covered in dirt." Lunex sat in the cart, listening to Adam tell stories tp her as they treked down the snowy path to Winterspire. A trip that lasted a few hours one way, during which Lunex fell asleep and gave Adam some silence. Once they were close to the gate, Adam stopped the cart and shook Lunex awake. The little vampire was able to see the stone wall surrounding Winterspire, with a few roofs poking above the wall. However, they were nothing compared to the elegant spire reaching far higher than any other building within the walls. Lunex tensed up with curiosity as they approached the gate. With a few exchange of words, the guards allowed the two inside.
Lunexs eyes widened as she looked around. She saw people running various stalls, from fruits and vegetables to hunted game, as well as people buying from them. Guards patrolled the streets, paying no mind to the children playing about. She was about to smile when a glowing light passed right by her face when someone walked by. She turned her head, seeing the glowing source come from a woman with white hair and green eyes. The glowing light seemed to be coming from a necklace that she tucked into her leather armor. The woman had a look that was somewhat confused expression, but she shrugged it off and disappeared into the crowd.
