~Colby~

~Colby~

I stirred around as the fair maiden began to speak, "who are you?"! She spoke with a soft British accent. "What do you want from me"? she spoke again, her purple eyes inches away from my face. "Colby"? I paused in utter shock. "Wait, how do you know my name"? I asked in concern. Suddenly she started screaming and faded away. Someone began to shake me awake. "Colby, wake up, you're dreaming"! Someone shouted. They sighed in frustration. "HELLO"?! I shook my head and woke up frizzled. "Oh, just a dream"? I said confused. I looked up to see my best friend (and roommate) Sam in my room. "Hey? You alright man, you were thrashing around"? I shook my head to wake myself up more. "Yeah, just a weird dream." I said as I stretched and yawned again as I sat up in bed and moved to the edge. Sam looked at me confused, "Again? That's like the sixth time in the last two weeks brother." "I'm fine Golbach." I said frustrated. Sam sat down on the edge next to me. He sighed and turned to me. He cared for me a lot; I was one of the first person to befriend Sam back in freshman year of high school. "I'm sorry, I know you had this same thing happen once before about your brother." I flashed back to the night my older brother Gage was taken from my home back in Kansas City. Screams echoed in my head. "Gage no... come back"!! I was just two and a half when it happened. I shook my head in slight fear. "That was a long time ago Sam, this one is not negative, it's more mysterious if anything." I said stretching. "Besides I have more imperative things to worry about, my dad's gonna roast me alive if I fail another physics exam." I said as I rolled my eyes. I got out of bed and headed to my closet to change my clothes. Sam shrugged his shoulders and rolled his eyes and got up from the edge of the bed. "Ok, whatever you say Brock." "So how are you and Kat? Heard you guys got into it the other day." Sam chuckled and sat on the couch by my bed. "Oh. You heard about that"? I laughed. "Dude we literally live together; did you think I wouldn't find out"? I went into my bathroom once I was done getting dressed so I could finish getting ready. Sam chuckled, "touché', she was just pissed at me because I was spending more time with the guys than with her." Sam said as he stood in the door. I laughed. "Yeah, I know the feeling. When I'm on my phone around Brynlee, she always gets angry at me, she makes that pouty face with those puppy eyes." I said explaining to Sam. "That's how little siblings are sometimes, how old is she now, last time I saw her she was only a few weeks old." "She's doing good, I talked to my parents a couple days ago." "That's great bro! We should all go see your family soon, it's been a while since we've been back home." Sam suggested. "That's a great idea, I was planning to go visit them soon, how about we do it in a couple of months, we need to go soon for pack shit anyways"? I suggested. "I think that's a hell of an idea. Is he still on your ass"? "Same old same old, dads being a thorn in my ass, he keeps nagging me to get our butts down to Kansas." Sam chuckled. "You ready to go"? "Yep, I'm ready, let's go." I said as we met up with the rest of our roommate's downstairs. In total, in the house we had 7 people, me included. Sam, my best friend since freshman year. He's been my guide through life and always knows how to get you out of a slump. Corey, the dancer of the group, he always knew how to make anyone laugh. Jake, he's the most immature out of all of us and the youngest, but he's good to have around in a sticky spot. Katrina, Sam's girlfriend, she's the singer of the group, she super sweet and always knows what anyone needs to hear. Tara, jakes girlfriend, she's very feisty and sassy, but she's one of my best friends and is nice once you get to know her. Lastly Devyn,She's the make-up and beauty guru of the house, like Kat she super sweet and easy to get along with. There was always something happening at the house. Whether it being a party or a friend gathering. I loved living with all my friends because we were all super close with each other.

~Emily~

I walked to school the next day after dropping Owen off at school, I took a deep breath, "You can do this Emily." I would only go to school a few times a week since this is college. My schedule was from 9:00-3, it wasn't that long, Thank God. I really hope today goes by fast. I thought to myself. I heard my ringtone go off on my phone. I looked at it and saw that it was a text from my mom. "Good morning baby, hope you found your first period ok, call me tonight and lemme know how your first day went, I love and miss you so much honey <3." I replied and said, "I love you too mom." Getting used to the new times is also gonna be weird, at this time back home I would outside with lacey exploring the abandoned houses that were now used as cover from explosions. I sighed sadly as I walked into the school and went to the office to get my schedule. The lady at the front desk, Mrs. Clark, handed me my schedule with a map and a late pass in case I got lost getting to my classes. "And your locker number and combination are written on your schedule, ok"? She said sweetly. I smiled. "Thank you." I said solemnly. "Of course, sweetheart, have a good day"! I smiled and walked out of the office and into the hallway. In the meantime, I kept my head down, all the while, everyone was staring at me. I tried to divert away from the stares and look at my schedule. On my way to find my locker, I bumped into someone texting on her phone. "Pardon me." I blushed from embarrassment. "Oh, I am so sorry." I said to her. She looked me up and down. She was about 5'7 and 120 lbs. She had long brown hair that was tied up in a high ponytail. She had soft hazel eyes with false lashes and her makeup was done to perfection on her diamond shaped face. She was wearing a baggy white LA embordered sweatshirt paired with black leggings and some white sneakers. "Hey, are you new here, I don't think I've seen you around here before"? she spoke in a sweet soft voice. I smiled nervously. "Is it that obvious"? I said with a slight chuckle. She smiled. "Well, a little, but it's ok, I'm Devyn Lundy but you can call me dev or D, just don't call me Devey, I hate that." She said introducing herself with a little sass. I liked her; she was sassy yet sweet. "Nice to meet you, Devyn." She looked at me confused. "And you are"? "Oh sorry, my name is Emily Young, but you call me Em or Emmy." She smiled. "Nice to meet you too Emily. I can tell from that accent that you aren't from around here. Where are you from"? She asked sweetly. I chuckled. "No, I'm not. I just moved here from London." "Oh, wow you've come a long way. How do you like it here in LA"? "It's been great so far, thanks for asking." "Of course, do you need some help with your stuff"? Devyn asked me. "Oh yes please, that would be a huge help"! I asked. "Here lemme see." I handed her my schedule so she could see. "Oh, your locker's right next to mine and my other friends." I sighed in relief. "Oh really, that's great"! I said relived. "Come on follow me." "Ok," I said as I followed her through the hallway. When we reached her locker there was another girl there on her phone. I assumed that was one of her friends she was talking about. She had tan skin and was little bit taller than Devyn. I would assume she was about 5' 8 and 140 lbs. She had wavy teal blue hair with dark brown roots that came down to her upper back. She was wearing a black and white zip up Balenciaga jacket with a sports bra under neath. Her pants were black leggings, and her shoes were white high tops. Her makeup was light natural on her diamond sculped face. Devyn looked my way to introduce me to her. "Oh, hey Devyn"! she said hugging her, she looked at me, "oh hey what's your name"? she asked sweetly. "Emily, this is Katrina Stuart or more commonly known as Kat, and Kat this is Emily Young or more commonly known as Em." She explained to her. I walked over to Katrina with a smile. "Hi Kat." I said sweetly. She looked up from her phone and shook my hand sweetly. "Hey Emily, are you new here"? She asked sweetly. She had a thick Canadian accent, I chuckled nervously, "Well if it isn't already obvious from my accent, yea, I am." I said nervously. Katrina smiled. "Well Emily, welcome to Los Angeles." She said shaking my hand. "Thanks, Katrina, are you from here too"? "No, I'm actually not, I'm from Canada, I moved here to peruse my career in music." "Oh, you'll have to give me some vocal lessons." "of course, I would love to." She said with a small laugh. Devyn looked toward Kat and noticed that my locker was there. "Oh, here's your locker." She pointed out. "Oh." Kat noticed and moved out of the way. I walked over to my locker. "Thanks." I spoke. "Hey girlies"!! A petite girl said as she made her way over to us. "Oh, hey Tara"! Kat said as she hugged her. She looked up at me, I wasn't much taller than her, but she was still tiny, "oh hey newbie, what's your name"? "Hi, nice to meet you, I'm Emily"! she gave me a small hug, "it's nice to meet you too I'm Tara, don't underestimate my height, I may be small, but I am mighty." I laughed, "I don't hate, I feel your pain." I spoke. Tara was the smallest out of all of us, but she IS mightiest. She had a heart shaped face and plump lips. She had short black hair with platinum blonde pieces framing her face. I could tell that her style would be consisted of a lot of black and graphic t's. Today she was wearing a black off the shoulder crop top and a pink mini skirt with a black chunky belt and combat boots. "So, what's your first period"? Tara asked, "Dual English with Mr. Reynolds." I spoke. Kat smiled. "Oh, I know where that is." Devyn rolled her eyes. "Ugh, you are so lucky, I have AP physics with Ms. Tatum, as if that class isn't already hard enough"! She gagged. Katrina chuckled. "Ha, lucky you, Ms. Tatum's kinda... creepy." "Um, yea, she talks so quietly you can barely hear anything she's saying, and if you dare to interrupt her, she just stares at you, she doesn't say anything to you, she just stares." I chuckled. "Wow, that's crazy, if that was me, I would've dropped that class"! Katrina looked at my eyes, noticing that they were purple. "Oh my gosh, Emily your eyes are so beautiful! Are those contacts"?! I chuckled "no, those are my natural eyes." "They are beautiful." "Really? People usually make fun of me for my eyes." They both looked at me shocked. "What? That's insane, your eyes are beautiful." "Aww, thanks guys." The bell rang shortly after and I found my class in the English hallway, I walked in and went to the teacher's desk. He was typing up something on his laptop. He looked up at me from his computer through his glasses. "Oh, hi, you must be the new exchange student." "Yes, sir, I'm Emily Young." He smiled, "you may take any open seat, and feel free to ask me any questions about the lesson." he said with a small smile as I nodded. "Thank you." I said to him as I shook his hand. "Of course, welcome to Los Angeles." He said as I took my seat in the front row on the far right. Then the tardy bell rang just as Another Student walked in. That's when He walked in. His scent hit me like wind blowing into your face. "Hello Cole, nice of you to finally join us." "Cole" rolled his eyes. "What's your excuse today Mr. Brock." He yawned and stretched. "Sorry teach, overslept, also it's Colby." Colby said annoyed, the teacher rolled his eyes, "just take your seat Mr. Brock." He said as he got up from his desk and walked to the door of the classroom and shut it. Colby made his way over to me. "Oh my god, does he know what I am, I can smell his scent from a million miles away, "Wolf." The teacher began to talk, I diverted away from the elephant in the room to listen. "Good morning class I am Mr. Reynolds." He walked to the front of the class. "I'm going to be your professor for the rest of the semester if that wasn't obvious already." He looked at this girl behind me named Amber "texting" on her phone. "Miss, Scholl"! She looked up at him. "What"? She said with attitude. "There is no texting in this classroom, bring your phone up here now"! He yelled strictly. She rolled her eyes. "I wasn't texting." She scoffed. "Oh, you weren't, well I suppose the object that's sitting on your desk that's the proximate width of a wallet isn't a cellphone now is it, bring it here"! She smiled snarkily. "Actually, Reynolds, this is an iPhone, not a cellphone." She said trying to show off her wealth. The whole class busted out laughing while I rolled my eyes. "Miss, Scholl you're pushing your luck, bring it here"! She sighed annoyedly. "I wasn't texting, I was downloading wordle..."! He sighed in frustration. "Miss Scholl, hand, it, over"! He said intimidatingly. She rolled her eyes. "Gosh, so uptight"! She said rudely as she walked over to his desk, put her phone there, walked back over to her seat, and sat down. "Thank you miss Scholl, now as I was saying, this is an advanced English class which means if you don't know how to write a strong essay, to read and comprehend, or spell tyrannosaurus from the very top of your head, you're going to have some very major problems, may I need to remind you that switching to regular English, or what I like to call "the dumb-dumb class", is still an option." "Dude, I can't even spell photosynthesis." Colby said in a joking tone leaning back into his chair, fiddling with a pen. The class laughed again. Mr. Reynolds rolled his eyes. "Funny Mr. Brock, very funny, now class I'm going to be handing out copies of Priscilla Presley's "Elvis and Me" and I want each of you to give a full-page translation about how the emotions change throughout the relationship between them." He said sternly. "Comments, questions, concerns?" the class shook their heads. The teacher rolled his eyes as he looked at Colby with his feet on the desk. "Cole, feet off the desk"! Colby rolled his eyes and leaned back in his chair, reading the book we were assigned to. When Colby sat next to me, he didn't say a word. I guess I'll just play it cool. I thought this was an all-human school. Are there more? He must know what I am, he Has to. I better just keep my mouth shut for the time being. The entire class, he ignored me for the most part, when I tried to peek at him, I realized how massive this guy was, he was well over 6'0 tall. But he was beautiful. His eyes were dark shade blue with a hint of silver; he had a scar on his right cheek, which looked like a cut from a fight. His face was carved, I'd hate to admit it, but I found him very, very attractive. His light tan skin glowed under the fluorescent lights; I noticed his knuckles had scuff marks on them...he had a sleeve of tattoos on his right arm that I couldn't decipher, but he had a barn swallow on his left hand close to his thumb and he had a wolf on the back of his right arm. How fitting. He had dark brown almost black hair that was swooped over his face slightly. His outfit was a black tank top and some black and white jeans paired with some combat boots. He was wearing some rings on both of his hands. He had some piercings in his ears and one on his nose. Before he could notice me staring, I began to take out my school supplies from my backpack and set them on my desk. I then began to write notes about the book we were reading.
