{Jake's POV}
I got dressed in the school uniform that was given to me for the school days. I looked at my phone. "23 unread messages, 14 phone calls, and multiple notifications from my social media." This is a new beginning for me, and I know that they're worried, but I couldn't care less. They didn't want me there when I was beforehand, so why should I go back to that when I can do something here?

I then realized that my phone was on low battery, so I was going to plug it in before I realized that there wasn't any electric socket. I then opened one of the spell books that was there an flipped through the pages. "Water Control, Growth, Heat, ah! Here." I saw the 'Electric Charge' spell, and even though the writing was in runic, I understood it. It was like it was automatically translated in my head for me to understand. I traced the sigil over my phone like the book said, and it surprisingly worked out well.

I was surprised that it actually worked that easily. Master Felix even said it himself, "However, don't expect to be perfect at the spells just yet, you're only starting so it's not going to work immediately." I put my phone in my pocket, looked at my schedule, grabbed the books that I needed, and headed out.

The first class that I had was potions. I opened the door and sat down in the back corner of the class, but some people were confused. "Probably because I'm new here, or becasue I punched those two bitches in the face." We all heard a loud bang and saw the teacher coming in, but she was in really bright colored clothes, but she also had black and green hair.

"Alright, let's get started, but before that we have a new student." She said looking up at me, which caused everyone else to do so too. "We welcome you to the class, but let's focus on the Proteus potion we're making today."

Everyone was looking at her again and taking their books out. I looked at my potions book and turned to the page that said 'Proteus'. "A shapeshifting potion huh?" Everyone was paying attention to her talking, but I was looking at the ingredients that were in it. After she finished talking, everyone went to get the stuff that we needed, but she walked up to me.

"Since you're new, I'm not sure you should do this potion." She said while I was looking at the floor. "What's your name dear?"

I was looking at her in the eyes now, but that was to try not to be rude to her. "Jake,... Jake Sterling."

She smiled. "Well, it's nice to meet you Jake. I'm Ms. Hornborn."

"It's nice to meet you too Ms." I was smiling even though I kinda took the whole 'You shouldn't do this' thing as insult. I know that's not how she meant it though. "What would you want me to do if you think I can't do this?"

"Well, I was thinking something more simple, but if you want to, you can try making Proteus." She said. "Just know that I'm not fully responsible for anything that happens."

I couldn't help but smirk. "This will be interesting for both of us." I already saw someone else mess up the potion and caused it to explode. "Alright."

I got all of the things that I would need to, but everyone looked at me like I was killing someone they cared about. "They really have that low expectations? I feel bad for them." I followed the instructions in the book until the part where I would need someone's hair. That was until Ms. Hornborn came up to me.

"Since you didn't have a partner, here's my hair to help you shapeshifter into me." She handed me her hair and I took it and also combined it with everything else.

"Thank you Ms." I already knew that I could make a fool out of myself by doing this, but that was a risk that I was willing to take.

I mixed it up just like the instructions said to do, but everyone was looking away now. I didn't care about it though, and it was amazing to do this for the first time. I just wanted to be able to do something right the first try, but I did seem to come off as cocky. I finished and the teacher walked up to see me try it out and to see if I was actually being cocky or if I was just an idiot.

I looked right at her. "So, I just drink it then?"

"Yes dear." She was just staring me down and waiting for me to humiliate myself. Well, that's not exactly what she wants, but she was 100% expecting it.

I drank it down even though it tasted downright disgusting. I already felt myself change, but her and everyone else were just staring at me shocked. I knew that I didn't make a mistake and I looked at the hair I had now and realized that I had done it perfectly.

"Oh, okay." She seemed amazed. "That's something new."

I was aware that this wouldn't last more than 10 minutes. "I'm full of surprises." I know it sounded corny, but I didn't care.

Everyone was just shocked, but I sat down at my desk and waited for the potion to wear out. However, a lot of the others had failed to do it properly and I actually was happy about it. I was finally better at something than most of my peers. I felt the potion wear off and I just continued to sit there before the teacher dismissed the class.

At least i impressed the teacher of my very first class of the day. I went to my next class, spells and charms, and it was similar to potions. I was told not to do what everyone else was doing by the teacher, Mr. Cikovic, and I proved them wrong too. It was amazing to see me impress people so easily with something that I've never done before.

It was then time for lunch, but when I got to the brightly colored lunchroom everyone was looking at me. I just got my lunch and I decided to eat alone at a table in the corner while reading my books, but that was until someone sat across from me.

"Hey, Jake right?"

I looked up and saw the girl from yesterday, Akira. "Yeah, Akira right?"

She smiled at me. "Yeah."
