Kennedy

The familiar comforting feeling of being pulled into my safe world was a welcome relief. I hadn't been for a while now and I missed it. I missed seeing my mother and father.

Opening my eyes I know I am going to be hit with the beauty of this place, and I breathe out a peaceful breath as I look around. The familiar flames on the horizon reaching up to kiss the stars, I like to imagine that it is my father reaching up to kiss my mother. I sigh at the romantic notion. The moon still dominates the horizon almost making the flames look like matchsticks that are alight. Stroking the soft Emerald Green Grass, I await the familiar rumble of the ground and the twinkling stars that will dance their way to the ground that will signal my spiritual parent's arrival; I don't have to wait too long.

Diabolus erupts from the newly formed crevice his fire wings floating him gently back down to the ground, transforming him instantly into his human form. As the dancing stars fall gracefully from the midnight sky, to swirl into the human form of my mother. I can't help the smile that lights up my face.

"Kennedy, my child you are here" the melodic voice of my mother whispered kissing my ears like a gentle breeze

"Hi, I've missed you both," I say honestly, standing to greet them

"As we have you" My father bows his head slightly

"Why have I not visited in a while?" I ask them "I have tried to come"

"We have been unable to reach you Kennedy" my mother answers "Your subconscious state has been distanced from us"

"Really?" I scrunch my face in confusion "I haven't done anything differently"

"We have been calling for you and calling for Akeala" my father agrees "Our calls have remained unanswered"

"Oh, we haven't heard your calls" I check with Akeala who confirms that she has not heard either "I have been exhausted lately though"

"Has something been troubling you child?" my mother looks on with concern evident in her sparkling eyes

"No, not really" I sigh

"But your voice tells a different story" she questions

"I have met somebody from" I look away to blink back the sheen of tears that form "From the house" I whisper as I turn back around to look at them. I watch as the fire flickers in my father's eyes, only to be put out by a gentle touch of my mother's hand placed on his.

"Have they hurt you?" he asks

"No," I tell him honestly, "I think it just opened up memories that Arella has kept at bay"

"Please seek out Arella's gift of healing and draw on the strength of the angels Kennedy" my mother insists gently

"I will, I have slept all day today" I try to reassure them "I will seek her out tomorrow" I promise

"So what of this exhaustion," my father asks evidently concerned

"I don't know, maybe it's school" I answer "although I have been sleeping terribly the last couple of nights" I don't miss the shared look between them, but don't want to question it. I just want to enjoy my time here with them.

After visiting for a while longer, I feel the pull in my chest as we say our goodbyes. This visit has made me feel lighter already.

I awake to the sound of my alarm with a smile on my face. I didn't realise how much a visit with my mother and father was needed. I feel ready for the day, it also helps that I only have a few more days until I get to see Deacon again.
