''Hey, angel. Please. No, no, no. Please don't cry. It's nothing, I swear. It doesn't even hurt. I swear.'' I say coming closer to her and palming her face. I wiped her tears with my thumb. Feeling her delicate, smooth skin with my thumbs. ''Look at me. '' I said, taking her hand and putting it in my face as I applied a bit of pressure to one of my bruises. ''See, I don't feel anything. ''

''What happened to you?'' she asks, tears wetting her cheeks. Her makeup started to run. Her eyes instantly turned bright red.

''I had a fight with someone for something stupid. It's nothing, I swear. Although you should have seen the other guy. He ended up in the hospital.'' I say it with a soft laugh, hoping she will feel better. God, I should have been more careful. I wrapped my arms around her. I hugged her tight and buried my face in her hair. Her arms remain flushed against her body, not hugging me back.

''Are you lying to me?'' she asks. Her voice came muffled as she buried her face in my chest. Yes. I am lying to the person I have dreamed of having by my side for the rest of my life. To the person I shouldn't even consider lying to. But only to protect her. Only to keep her safe. I have to keep her safe until everything settles.

''No. Of course not. Why would you think that?'' she finally hugs me back, and I feel like the heaviness on my chest has vanished. I kissed the top of her head. Breathing in her scent. Just a little bit longer, my angel. Just wait a bit longer. And then we can live the life that everyone dreams of having.

''Please don't do this again. Please.''

''I will not angel. I will not,'' I say, hugging her tighter. ''Wait a minute,'' I say, pulling a bit back so I can see her face. ''What are you wearing?''

''A dress, she says, wiping her tears. I could see her relax a bit, and I almost let out a breath of relief.

''Where is the one I gave to you?'' I say this and look at her as her face changes to an angry one.

''That dress costs $300,000. What makes you think I will even dress it? That was supposed to be in a museum. What if I stain it? Or tear it. Or. Or.''' I could see her starting to get nervous. What makes her think that I care about that dress?

''Just go put it on, angel, I whisper in her ear. ''Because I will be the one to tear it later.'' I say, kissing her neck slowly. Her head tilted a bit back, and I could feel her body relax. ''Go,'' I say, and she immediately runs to the room to change. I take a seat on the couch. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

My phone starts ringing, but I ignore it. It is probably my uncle again, but I missed enough time to finish his job. Today was supposed to be just mine and Ivy's, and I am not letting anyone distract me again. Whatever my uncle has for me can wait till tomorrow.

''Roman. I need your help.'' Ivy calls me from the other room, and I immediately go to her. Her back was facing the door as she tried to close the zipper. I approach her slowly. My steps light up like a feather falling. She was huffing as her hands tried to zip her dress.
