OMORI AU

4 DAYS LEFT . . . - SHORT-LIVED FUN

(i have no fucking idea when the last time i updated this was💀 and to be honest i just completely forgot i created this au in the first place

i dont know if i'll ever update consistently in the future, but i'll at least finish this shitty chapter that has stayed in the drafts for months💀)

Everybody sat around in a circle, deck of cards in hand for another round of their original card game. They all chatter and shuffle around energetically, squirming around, trying to keep their decks out of sight. One mischievous player attempts to sneakily cheat his way to victory, trying to give subtle, but obvious peeks at other players cards, but is caught in the act.

AUBREY catches KEL attempting to take a peek at her hand, before she swiftly hid her cards away from him."KEL! You cheater, stop looking at my cards!" AUBREY pouted.

"Huh!? Pssh, I wasn't trying to look at your cards! My eyes just happened to wander near there!" KEL exclaimed, trying to look unsuspicious.

"Nuh uh. You were leaning towards my cards to take a look! You can't fool me, KEL." AUBREY quickly retorted.

"KEL, are you trying to peek at AUBREY's cards? You know better than to cheat, KEL."  

"No I wasn't! Why would I even cheat? The purpose of this game is to have fun after all! I would never possibly try to cheat my way to win."

"Uh huh." AUBREY said, unconvinced.

"I-I'm telling the truth!--"

MARI nudged KEL lightly before reminding him, "KEL, it's your turn, go!"

KEL nervously exhaled as he reviewed his choices, he analyzed his options intently, trying hard to not even lose. He anxiously thought of what to do, any of his cards could lead him to defeat or victory from pure luck. He shook away his thoughts and swiftly flipped his card over for everybody to see without a care.

Hopeful that he would win, he revealed his card. Not wanting to be heavily embarrassed and proven a cheater and a loser by AUBREY. This was his pride on the line. He couldn't bear to lose to AUBREY out of all people.

"Ah."

"Huh?" KEL turned in dismay. He saw MARI carefully pull out all of her cards out, KEL slowly realized that he would may lose.

MARI firmly slapped all of her cards into the pile, a perfect hand. Pleased, MARI smiled and lightly laughed.

"Oh, sorry KEL!"

 Everybody bellowed and cheered in excitement, not expecting such an outcome.

"Wow... MARI won so quickly, and I had a decent hand too, haha..." BASIL chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. He'd be lying if he didn't want the prize, a holographic sticker of a floral icecream, since he wanted to stick it in his photo album, but he remained happy for MARI. This was just a game after all. But not to a certain someone.
