during that time I tidied up the house since Kavish and Adelio left the house a mess as they were leaving. it was a nice feeling to have a baby in the house again since all my babies have grown up and most have moved out.
I also decided to clear out the spare room next to mine on the third floor. Usually, I wouldn't place anyone on that floor since that was me and Davi but, I had a feeling that she needed to be close and I wanted the same.
opening the door slowly and making my way over to the bed. She was still in her strawberry shortcake outfit that Davi had bought her earlier. seeing that she had an extra outfit I decided to change her before we headed out to the store.
Sitting next to her and rubbing her back to wake her up. Not wanting to scare her in any way, after a minute she began to stir and shift to face her. As she rolled over I could see that her shift had rolled up and I was met with scars and bruises on her belly.
Seeing that I was staring at her stomach, she began to tear up and whimper. "winter what happened to your tummy, honey." I asked her as I reached out to pick her up.
Sitting on my lap and hugging her to my chest, is when she broke out in tears that sounded like nothing but pain. "Okay, you okay I promise. we don't have to talk about it unless you want to bambina."
I held her for a long time, letting her cry and get it all out. I knew that she needed this, and I was going to be here for her no matter what. After a while, she started to calm down and I could feel her little body start to relax.
I picked her up and carried her to the bathroom. I was still in shock at the sight of the bruises and scars on her little stomach. I gently sat her on the counter and grabbed a rag to clean her face and fix her hair as well. Then walking back into the room, grabbing her spare outfit to change her into it.
Trying not to touch her stomach. She was still sniffling and whimpering a bit.
Once I had her changed, I sat back down with her on my lap. I held her close and rocked her back and forth. I didn't know what had happened to her, but I knew it had something to do with the fact that she didn't wanna go back home.
After a while, I heard footsteps coming from the hallway. I looked up to see Davian standing in the doorway. He had a look of concern on his face when he saw Winter and me. "Hey, Is everything okay? I could hear her crying from that hall," he asked, coming over to sit down next to us.
"Winter has bruises and scars on her stomach," I told him, holding her a little tighter. "She started crying when I saw them and asked her what happened."
Davian looked at Winter with a sad expression. "We'll figure it out, babe," he said, putting his arm around me. "she's safe now and she's not going back there again."
I nodded, feeling a little better. I knew that we would get through this together, as a family. We would do whatever it took to make sure Winter was okay.
I held Winter for a while longer, "Can you go get her some water," I asked Davian, as he headed towards the door.
"Okay, babe," he replied, before leaving.
I sat on the bed for a few more minutes before gently placing Winter back down. She immediately started to whimper again. Touch starvation is a serious issue, especially in children.
I picked her up and carried her into the bathroom to get ready. We had to leave soon. I sat her on the counter, gathered my essentials, and began my routine. I played some music on my phone to break the silence.
As I applied light makeup, I suddenly heard a small, timid voice. It almost made my heart leap. I turned to see Winter curiously eyeing the powder brush in my hand.
"This is a face brush, baby," I explained simply so that it was easy for her to understand, watching as she studied it in wonder. "Me too," she said, taking me a moment to realize what she meant. I stood in front of her and gently brushed a small amount of pink blush onto her cheeks.
"Oh my goodness, you look pretty, baby," I told her, smiling as the color spread across her face. "But remember this: you're the most beautiful little girl in the world, and you don't need any makeup to be beautiful. Never forget that, okay?" She smiled at me, her big brown eyes meeting mine.
A throat clearing sound caught our attention. Davian stood in the doorway, a sippy cup in hand. "She's right, Piccolo. You're very beautiful, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise." Winter's face turned bright red.
"How about we head downstairs and let Ade change your clothes, hmm?" Davian suggested, setting her on his hip. She looked at me for confirmation before taking her from the room.
I nodded, handing them a cup and giving Winter a reassuring kiss on the hand before they headed downstairs. I took a few more minutes to dress in a simple outfit before following.
When I reached the bottom of the stairs, I was greeted by a surprising sight. "Davian Armani, what the hell do you think you're doing?" my voice demanded.
