The noncommittal gradient
of the sky reflects in your eyes
Darkness becomes radiant
The colors shift white as lies
Black, blue, orange, yellow
Where does one story stop and the other begin?
Kanye ran for president
The summer that we met
The city lost its residents
To masked menacing regret
Antigone, ophellia, Agamemnon, Othello, and Wrin
The world's stages turned to tragedy, and casts ran thin
We spent that summer driving
Down roads that lead to nowhere
Posting pictures of our, "thriving"
We swore we'd never go there
Even as we stood on the threshold
Of the only unknown we'd ever known
It was a rosey-colored time
Of unsubscribed subscriptions
Of star-studded convictions,
And dash door dropped addictions
But every night the sunset glowed
And we had a love that flowed
Into something greater than we knew how to hold
Love found us and we promised we'd keep it, no matter how old
