December 3rd. It wasn't snowing, but it almost felt like it, considering how thin the air was. the usual male protagonist had been stuck in slumber on his sofa for quite some time now. His teeth jittered before his eyes fluttered open, along with his consciousness. Dave shifted his eyes around realizing the state he was in. seems he blacked out. he pushed himself upwards off the sofa and slowly made his way to the window.
Icicles would glisten, blurring his eyesight. Dave held his hand infront of them, noticing a small mail truck approaching his home. peculiar, he never gets mail, atleast personally written mail. assuming it was just some coupons from a local store, Dave slipped on his slides and carefully stepped down the sidewalk. it was iced up, almost as if the universe wanted him to slip. Dave made it to the mailbox and held himself steady, leaning onto it. before popping it open. he slid the card out and closed it up, breathing ever so lightly, the cold making it harder to do so.
Dave stood in the street, his nails scratching at the sticker that was closing the envelope. he managed to open it, pulling out the letter.
It was from.. Jade? must be a mistake, there's other people named Jade. Maybe a neighbor, maybe a different friend! he lifted his head up and looked around the block. It was from jade. He felt almost cooler than ever receiving this letter.
Dave hastily made his way back inside and placed the letter on his counter, and began rummaging through drawers looking for a pen and an envelope, maybe even looking for the words he'd even begin to write.
should he even write back? okay, yes, he should. he began to write out on a lined sheet of paper, ripped out from a journal.hey jade its dave
I got your letter thanks for reaching out to me
im doing cool I just went to this sick concert last night
hope youve been doing sick too, you probably are
uhh im not sure what to writeDave scribbled out the last part, he didn't want to seem desperate or anything. quickly enough, he folded up the sheet and hastily stuck it in the envelope. It didn't even close all the way. he signed it and wrote jades address, which is weird he even remembered.
the boy made his way back into the front yard and stood in front of the mailbox. maybe this was a mistake.. no. he wants to talk to his friend again, so he's going to send it.the letter goes into the mailbox and was quickly shut. Dave put his hands in his warm hood pockets and shamefully went back into the warmth of his home, hoping he'll get another letter soon
