it started with my mom telling me
to go pick up some groceries.

"hey sweetie" my mom calls from the living room.

i walk downstairs.

"can you go take a ride to the grocery store? here's the list. i'll give you some extra cash for your own snacks too" she said.

"sure sounds good" i said.

"just lemme get changed into something nicer." i said rushing upstairs.

i finally just got my license so any excuse i have ti take a ride i'm doing it.

i got dressed in a cute crop top and a pair of sweats, i did my makeup quickly and grabbed my keys.

my mom already went to bed but like me 100$ to go up up her list and me some stuff.

i threw my shoes on and hopped in my car.

i blasted some music as i drove to the local grocery store.

i hummed as i walked through each isle.

looking for what we need.

once i got it all in my cart, plus some drinks and snacks for me. i found the shortest check out line and waited.

"will this be all for you today" i familiar voice asked.

"yes" i smiled looking up.

"y/n l/n" he chripped smiling.

"uhm..ben, i wanna say puckett?" i asked furrowing my brows.

"no it's plunkett but uh close enough" he laughed it off.

"oh i'm so sorry ben that was rude of me" i smiled.

"no it's ok, easy mistake" he said scanning my stuff.

"i didn't know you worked here" i said.

"yeah well" he smiled.

he was a lot cuter then i remembered.

it was summer break and i only had one class with him last year, and our groups didn't really
clash.

"so what have you done this summer" i asked.

"oh not much yk, work, spend my friday nights with mandy, repeat" he said.

"oh are you and mandy a couple now?" i asked

"oh no no we're just friends" he laughed.

i nodded.

"what about you? are you and tyler still together?" he asked. "nah a couple months ago i found out him and kenzie were sneaking around as a summer fling and you know" i shrugged it off.

"oh i'm sorry, you uh, y-you deserve better then t-tyler anyway" he said bagging my groceries.

"oh yeah? anyone in mind" i smiled and he flushed pink.

"oh, uh n-no i was just saying i mean like-" she stammers.

"i know" i smiled again

he helped put my bags back into my cart, which is not normal, but i was thankful.

"your so sweet ben" i flashed him a sweet smile when i touched his arm

he laughed softly.

"want me to walk your cart out there for your i mean i-"

"i can handle myself but thanks anyway ben" i said.

"oh of course" he said.

i waved him goodbye and pushed my cart back to my car.

this man cannot take a hint oh my lord.

i wish i asked him for his number or something but i so thought he was gonna.

i kept the left over money and brought all my groceries inside and out them away.

i sighed and stayed in my room for the rest of the day.

i decided on a comfy day and just sat in bed and watched movies.

around 10pm i really wanted to go buy something to drink and more stuff to eat.

i stopped at the bank to put the left over 30$ in my bank account and drove to the store.

it was dead in there.

i grabbed a basket and loaded it up on some candies, sodas, chips and microwaveable foods.

"ben?" i said walking to his lane.

"why are you still working it's been like 9 hours" i said placing my basket on the conveyor.

"yeah well gotta make money some how" he laughs

"you gotta big night planned?" he said taking out all my stuff and i laughed.

"im pretty hungry, and i'm thinking my on having a couple friends over to hang out in the den maybe play some pool or just watch tv"  i smiled.

"oh that sounds like..lots of fun" he asked scanning my stuff

"i- uh i can walk these bags out to your car for you, i mean they're heavy and y-you don't have enough stuff to uh take a cart so uhm" he stammers.

"that would be sweet of you thank you" i smiled.

he takes my bags and i lead him to my car.

i open the back seat door for him and he places every bag nicely in a row.

"thanks ben" i smiled.

he nodded but just looked down on me.

"ok soo..would you like to maybe stop by after your shift to hang—" i try to get out.

he sticks his hand out for me to shake, "i'll see you whenever y-you come by next o-or when school starts" he says.

i furrowed my eyebrows but smiled and took his hand to shake, "i'll see you around ben"

he turned around and muttered under his breath, and walked quickly back into the store.

i shrugged it off and got into the car texting all my friends, brody, mackayla, austin, graham, alayna.

just all of my close friends to come over and hang out.

i had the hangout house and cus my mom works nights.

they all came over and it was fun listening to music, playing pool, swimming in the pool etc but i just wish ben would stop by.

i know this didn't his crowd but i just want to see him outside of the store.
