***Liam's POV***

Emma was...interesting. Ever since I saw her in last hour yesterday I could t get her off of my mind. I was her partner in algebra today because no one else wanted to be but it wasn't just because of that...I wanted to be. For some reason I wanted to know more about her. She seemed so small and innocent, it was the cutest thing watching her small figure climb into my truck a little while ago.

Right now she was looking out the window peering through her glasses, humming along to Lego house by Ed Sheeran. It made me smile that she too liked one of my favorite artists.

"We are here!" I said pulling up to her house. She went to open the door but I kept it locked.

"Not until you let me look at your hand." I said as she turned to me frustrated at the door.

"It'a nothing really." She said and I knew she was lying. She always but her lip when she was lying and she would blush. It was an easy give away.

"You are lying." I said sternly.

"Wha-...how...I mean no I'm not!" She said lying even more.

"Yes you are now let me look...I won't hurt you I promise." She hesitated for a second but then slowly reached her hand towards me. I gently took it and unwrapped it and she turned and looked out the window. I was happy she was because I couldn't hold back my reaction.

Purple black and blue bruises covered her hand and it was deffinatly swollen. I had seen this before when I helped my mom out at the hospital. I just couldn't tell how it had happened.

"It's deffinatly sprained." I sighed and turned her hand over trying to be gentle as she winces in pain. "And possibly broken...Emma, what happened?" I asked concerned. Just then someone stumbled out of her house and I assumed it was her father.

"Emma is that you?" He yelled

"I-I have to go!" She said before scrambling to pick up her things and jumping out of my car.

"Comming sir!" She said and ran up to him.

She seemed nervous as she entered the garage but I couldn't see after that she was in the shadows. I heard a door slam and took that as my cue to leave.

***Emma's POV***

"Get to your chores! And if I ever catch you loligagging and putting then off again...well, I think we both know what would happen.

And with that he let go of my hair an threw me towards the sink which was piled with dirty dishes.

How can one man dirty a sink full of dishes in one day?!? And to make it worse...he broke the dishwasher so I had to hand wash them and dry them. When I was done with that I went to put on my uniform and started to walk to work.

I didn't work very far but since my father wouldn't let me take the car I had to walk wherever I went. I put in my headphones and started to walk. I went to slip my iPod in my pocket when I dropped it. I froze in place.

"Please don't be broken! Please don't be broken!" I said as I bent down to pick it up.

Phew! It wasnt...I couldn't afford another one...it took me a year just to get this one! And I would not be able to last without music everyday...it was my escape.

I made it to work and got set up at the cash register. I worked at the gas station down the street and it wasn't half bad. It was quiet most of the time and there was only room for one person in the small booth so I didn't have to deal with anyone else except for shift changes.

Today I was working double shift and I didn't get off until 10 PM.,. 6 1/2 more hours to go! Yay! (Note the sarcasm)

Finally my shift was over and I started to walk back home. I put on the light jacket I brought with me and headed home. I tucked my hair into the hood and pulled the hood up to cover up my face. This was my routine, I learned that putting on an oversized jacket and hiding my hair and face keeps the creeps away because you never know who you will find lurking the streets around here.
