Chapter 5

JACK POV

Jack sat there next to Alex on the couch. For the first time in his life, he hardly paid attention to the movie, which was very unusual because Home Alone was his favourite movie and usually, whenever he watched it, he was glued to the screen. However, not this time. All his attention was focused on Alex. Whenever one of them moved and their arms brushed together, Jacks heart skipped a beat. It was stupid, Jack knew, there was literally no evidence that Alex was gay in the slightest and Jack was probably going to ruin the first real friendship he’d ever had and it hadn’t even been a day. Jack still couldn’t believe Alex was even talking to him, why would he? Jack was just a “stupid, ugly, emo fag” according to everyone in the school. Except Alex.

Alex, for some reason, thought Jack was worth it. Alex was the first person to actually have a proper conversation with Jack in a long time and it made Jack feel special, made him feel wanted, for the first time in his life.

“Jack?” Alex said, interrupting Jacks thoughts.

“Hmm?” Jack replied.

“Um… kind of a random question… but do you know how everyone at the school calls you gay and everything?” Alex asked, he seemed scared, worried that he might upset him. Jack, on the other hand, had expected Alex to ask him this and he already knew his answer. He was going to tell Alex the truth. Jack nodded, signalling Alex to continue. “Well… um… are you?”

Jack gulped. He could do this. He had to. He couldn’t lie to Alex. “Do you promise me that you won’t think any different of me because of what I answer?” Jack asked Alex.

“I promise” Alex said, smiling slightly.

“It’s true. I’m gay” Jack said, looking at him hands. He heard Alex’s relieved laugh and looked up, confused.

“Thank you for telling me the truth Jack, I won’t tell anyone I swear on my life” Alex said.

“How about you?” Jack asked, bracing himself for Alex’s answer.

“I’m honestly not sure. I’ve always thought that I’ve been straight… but I’m not so sure about that now…” Alex replied honestly.

“Why aren’t you so sure? What’s made you change your mind?” Jack asked, trying to help Alex.

“You” Alex replied simply.

They were so close now; Jack could feel Alex’s breath on his face. They just sat there for a few seconds, looking at each other, then Alex leaned forwards and their lips met.

It was perfect. Jack felt the world stop around him, everything focusing completely on Alex. Neither of them tried to deepen the kiss, their mouths just seemed to mould together, like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. All too soon, it was over. Gasping for breath, both boys pulled away. Once he’d regained his breath, Alex spoke,

“Well then, after that, I’m pretty sure I’m gay” Alex said his voice barely a whisper. Jack laughed, he’d never felt so happy.

A.N. Two chapters in a day :) Chapter 5 isn’t very long, sorry, but chapter 4 is quite long so I think it makes up for it. Thank you for reading guys! :D
