I walked down the street with Ash in search of a pokemon for a good solid five minutes before I realized something.

"So, um, do you have a plan on where to find a pokemon in the middle of Lumiose city?" I asked, turning to face him as we walked. "I mean, I don't know a thing about finding wild pokemon, but aren't they usually in forests?"

"Oh, yeah, you're right!" Ash said cheerfully.

I looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to provide a solution to this glaring flaw in our plan, but.......

"Sure sucks that we're in the city!" He finished.

I stopped walking and stared at him. "You didn't think about that before draggingme out here? Like, at all?!"

”Nope!” he grins. I sigh and facepalm.

’WHYYYY!!!’ I mentally screamed. If it wasn’t for my big mouth, I wouldn’t have to be here! I sighed again.

”So, any specific Pokémon in mind you would like to catch?” Ash asked curiously. 

“No, I don’t actually know yet…” I thought for a moment, what Pokémon would I like to catch? Maybe a good one for a Pokémon showcase..... but there are so many! Vivion would be good because it’s one of those Pokémon that have unique appearances! So pretty. And there’s also Bunneary, who’s super cute! Maybe a Vulpix. Having a fire type would be nice, and imagine when it evolves! Hatterena is fancy and pretty, but Gengar is so awesome with those cool ghost type moves. Then there’s Eevee, who could evolve into 8 evolutions, and great for Pilachu! Who should I pic-

“Y/n! Y/n! Hello?” Ash waved his hand in front of me, snapping me out of my thoughts.

”Eh?”

”I was asking if you were ok, you've been silent for a while now."

I nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine, I was just thinking about what Pokémon I want to catch! There are so many that-"

But before I could finish I heard a rustling coming from Ash's bag, he seemed to notice it too. He took the backpack off his shoulders and we both peered inside.

"Pikachu?" Ash said in confusion, looking down at his pokemon who quickly jumped out of the bag onto his shoulder. "What're you doing here buddy? Did you wanna help Y/n catch her first pokemon?"

Pikachu made a happy sounding noise which we took as a yes.

"That's awesome!" Ash cheered enthusiastically. "Now all we need to do is find a pokemon!"

I shook my head slightly, but there was a smile on my face. This mix up might turn into something good after all! 

There was a whooshing sound over my head that brought me out of my trance, I looked up and the most beautiful vivillon I'd ever seen was fluttering around a tree close by, I turned to Ash.

"Look over there!" I whispered to him, he looked in the direction I was pointing and saw the vivillon almost at once. The light blue on its wings made it very easy to spot.

"Wow, a vivillon!" He whispered back.

"Yeah, it's so pretty! Is that a tundra pattern? I thought you couldn't find those anywhere near Lumiose city!"

Ash's expression darkened a little at this. "You can't. It must've been brought here by pokemon poachers, they target vivillon a lot."

"That's so sad...." I said quietly, my face falling. Ash noticed and he put a hand on my shoulder.
