Chapter 16

(Your POV) 

I slowly opened the door to my pitch black dorm and looked at the clock on my bedside table; 12:42 am. I definetly wasn't going to get enough sleep..... but it was totally worth it! I had another pokemon now, and Ash.... uh, I'd have to thank him later for being such a big help! Yeah, that must be it. 

I closed to door but as soon as I did the lights were turned on and Dawn ran up to me and gave me a hug that almost knocked me over!

"Y/n!! There you are! Why did you stay out so late?? Did something happen?! Did you catch a pokemon?!?" She was still clinging to me as I tried to regain my balance with a look of anticipation on her face.

I held up the pokeball that now contained the Eevee and she started squealing with joy. "You did it! You really did it! You caught a pokemon, that's amazing Y/n!! What is it? Wait, don't tell me! I wanna see it for myself!" Dawn said, calming down a little, but not by much.

I giggled at her antics. "Well in that case you'll have to wait until tomorrow. It's a little beat up so it wouldn't be good to let it out before taking it to the pokemon center, well at least that's what Ash said."

"Aw man, I wanted to introduce it to Piplup right away.... Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow then," Dawn pouted.

"Yeah, and it's past midnight so we should probably go to bed now anyways. Did you stay up this whole time just to wait for me?" I asked.

"Well, I also had some homework to do, but yes! Moslty that!" She grinned, as she gestured to the open binder presumably full of schoolwork on her bed.

"Dawn! Sleep is important!" I chided, but it was halfhearted at best.

"Bah," she said, brushing me off, "do you really think I was gonna wait around 'till morning to see how it went? This is your first time catching a pokemon ever! I had to wait up for you!"

"I mean, Ash did most... well, all of the actual catching part...." I confessed.

"Who cares? You still have a pokemon and I can't wait to see it tomorrow!" Dawn said, falling backwards onto her bed. "But you're right, for now we should get some sleep."

"Yeah, I'm gonna go change in the washroom. Be right out!"

As soon as I was ready for bed, I turned on my reading lamp and pulled out the book that Red had recomended to me, I was ready to get a few more chapters in before bed.

Dawn looked over at me and raised an eyebrow. "So sleep is important, huh?" She asked in a playful sarcastic way.

This time it was my turn to brush her off. "I just want to read one chapter before bed. It won't take long!" 

"And one chapter will turn into two, and two chapters will turn into three. I know how this works, you can never put that book down! And I think I know why~"

I blushed a little. "Come on Dawn..... Besides, I'll read under the cover so you won't see a thing!" I ducked under the covers with my book and my reading lamp. "See?" I asked, my voice muffled by the blankets.

She sighed and I could imagine her rolling her eyes. "Fine, fine, just don't stay up to late. We have school tomorrow!" She reminded me.

"I won't!" I said cheerily.

I heard her get up to turn off the overhead lights so the only things I could see were what was illuminated by the faint light of my reading lamp.

"Goodnight!" I heard Dawn say, along with a squeaking of springs as she climbed into bed.
