Naruto woke up in a pool of water and the Valley Of End. He stared at the figure of his grandfather and felt a dull ache in his mind as memories not of his own came rushing forth as he slowly got up. He gazed carefully into the water and saw that he looked young, Genin age with a face that was not his own. He tried reaching into the seal and was pleased to hear a discontented grumble of a tired fox.
"You must be tired," Naruto commented as he walked to the land and shook off the excess water.
"Don't disturb me Uchiha-brat," Kurama flicked his tails in a casual manner.
"Don't be like that Kura-chan," Naruto teased as he started to make his way away from Konoha and towards a small nearby village. "You still love me anyway."
"I might but don't push your luck," Kurama grumbled. "I need to recuperate the lost chakra, I need hibernation."
"I understand," Naruto said solemnly. "Thank you, Kurama."
The fox didn't answer but Naruto felt a rush of protective chakra around him and that made him smile even if it came as a smirk on his new Uchiha face. Running around in his grandfather's body may be a bit strange but he will get used to it. He was Naruto Uchiha, the descendant of Madara. He made it to the village and made sure to keep a confused expression on his face as he walked around until he found the village chief. "Village chief," Naruto called in a dull tone as the man turned to him. His Sharingan spun into existence. "Genjutsu: Sharingan!"
The man went slack which made Naruto smirk. "I need some new clothes and a katana, I need them in black and blue and in an hour old man."
He nodded in a dazed way before heading out and fulfilling the order while Naruto took a proper shower and saw his features. He had to admit, Madara was a total looker when he was younger, and he had no intention of cutting his hair as he wanted to scare the piss-off people. He admired himself before he heard a knock on the door. He opened the bathroom door to take the clothes the old man got for him before closing it again. He pulled on shinobi pants with a snug blue turtle neck and used his new belt as a holster for his katana before burning his old clothes and exiting the bathroom.
"I was never here and if anyone asks where the clothes you bought are tell them it was for an orphan," Naruto headed out via the window and on his way to Konoha, the day was getting dark, and judging from his sensory wave Kushina was already captured and was being dragged out of the village. He was glad Kurama was asleep as he began chuckling darkly. He could feel a rush oncoming at the thought of screwing over his father. He began making his way over, flash-stepping as the sunset settled around as he closed in on his former mother's screams for help although very weak, bordering on whimpering as she stumbled from side to side under their tugging from the rope.
He watched her closely, watched her strip her hair in small pieces. He smiled softly. 'I'm not sorry, by being with Minato you were placed in grave danger because your husband was a weak man. I am stronger and with you, within the Uchiha Clan, you'll be safe but will also increase my standing because being a descendant of a so-called traitor will make anyone uneasy.
He drew his katana and formed a hand sign. "Kirigakure no Jutsu," He whispered as a fog rolled in and he slipped in to cut them down easily. 'Heart, Lungs, Liver, Kidneys.'
When he cleared the fog he found Kushina still stumbling ahead, twisting her hair off. Naruto pulled her into his chest, burning her binds. "You're safe now," Naruto told her as he picked her up before she collapsed. Kushina looked up at him as they made their way into the trees and began heading to Konoha. "I'm Naruto Uchiha, who are you?"
The redhead blushed. "I'm Kushina Uzumaki, thank you for saving me. I didn't know if anyone was going to see the trail of red hair I left behind. It's honestly the only thing that distinguishes me, it makes me an outcast," She looked down as tears welled her eyes.
Naruto smirked internally. "You know my first thought when I saw it was 'Who would do this to such beautiful crimson ringlets?' Now that I've seen you I can safely say you have beautiful hair."
Kushina's ears turned red and she leaned a bit closer to him as her heart jumped into her throat. "T-Thank you N-N-Naruto."
"I was only telling the truth."
