Naruto kept up his new routine of training in the morning before wandering Konoha with Kushina and settling at her apartment for lunch. Kushina was a firecracker of a girl and Naruto enjoyed her company even if his expression never gave him away. She wasn't disheartened by it either so Naruto knew she wasn't offended by his lack of expression as he always made sure to express himself with actions. Ever since coming back Naruto thought he might have gone back to his usual troublesome self but in all honesty, there was no need to. He wasn't at war at the moment but war had changed him. He now knew he had to play the political role and Kushina would be the foot in the door for him to become Hokage.
It was one of Madara's dreams in his later years from what Naruto could garner when the memories floated in. Naruto had been on his way to achieving it but he knew nothing about his Uchiha heritage. He scowled as he thought of the figures in his life who promised him love and truth. Lies, it was all lies. But he would need some of them. Some like the legendary Sannin, they weren't legends yet, not until the height of the Third War. Now they were still somewhat peaceful, the incident with Kushina had started to rock the boat a little but not much will be done until they reached their teens. He still had years to solidify himself in the village as a trustworthy Uchiha even if the Uchiha council rejects his proposal.
He would still laugh at their misery from time to time. He had plans and if they don't get onboard then he would raze the elemental nation with his power. It had been a week, he was making breakfast when a knock came at the door. He opened it to see Kagami who were a pensive expression. "We have settled to have the meeting after you finish your meal, they have already started gathering."
Naruto hummed as he invited the man inside as he finished sharing his rice and pouring his miso soup. He ate as he normally would, not bothering to offer a plate to the man as it was clear Kagami was ready for the meeting and not for breakfast with the most traitorous Uchiha's grandson. Naruto set a clone to clean and wash up as he tied on his combat boots and both males made their way to the main clan house. "You don't seem to be nervous."
"Kagami-san I have plans. Plans to make myself known as Madara's grandchild, his only grandchild. Say what you will of him now but you all have to bite your tongue when his words were proven correct. I have been here for two weeks and even I can see how this village treats our clan. I have means to rectify that, we need to win the popularity contest going on in order to continue receiving proper funding in terms of supplies and land. We are slowly being pushed out of the village," Naruto started, his voice loud as he knew the others behind the screening could hear him.
"Why are we situated so close to the prison, I did some research into that little oddity and it wasn't pleasant. While we are the main force for policing, next to the ANBU are our children worth so little to the village. Those security seals aren't strong enough to hold the men you have chained behind those walls and when they break out our grounds are the first line of attack. No other clan has been moved to this compound, in fact this compound was made to house the guards in rotation at the prison as well as to serve as barracks for the ANBU. What are we doing here? We are a founding clan at the very least our compound should be within the same distance as the Senju compound."
"The prejudice of the Second has spilled into the Third and I despise it. I intend to become the Yondaime Hokage with or without the clan's help because I refuse to allow the Senju to change history to the point where the Uchiha are considered just a clan that joined Konoha. We contributed more to the Konoha we see today, if it weren't for our reputation of being a powerhouse during my Grandfather's time many clans that reside here wouldn't be here. People feared and respected the Uchiha name and you've allowed yourself to fall into that Senju trap, lowering your defenses, while Hashirama played the fool Tobirama plotted our slow suffocation."
Kagami was stunned but even he had to bow to Naruto's words. They were on the brink of an internal conflict. Many Uchiha were displeased with the circumstances and many had begun to see Naruto as a sign that their ancestors were wrong to cast away Madara. Madara had been right but they were blinded by pretty words and peace. The Senju treated them like children, and they played right into it. He slid the door open to see the contemplative faces of many of his most trusted men and the elders. "We don't need Naruto to spell it out for us. We know Madara was right."
He turned to Naruto who met his gaze unflinching. "You said you had a plan to save us."
Naruto nodded once. "I do, this plan is going to be long, arduous. Things that are associated with the Uchiha will have to be altered. I intend to get dirty politically, the Senju has been hurling their mud for many years. While I do blame the Senju for where we are now I do have to lay some blame for us Uchiha following their steps. We kept our cold faces and bit our tongue for the sake of peace. No more."
Many murmurs rang out for this in approval.
"What resources do you need, I don't need to tell you that I am willing to give you everything to ensure our survival," Kagami. spoke with conviction.
"I need unlimited access to the library, your financial records, existing buildings owned by us in the village, any properties that we are in the process of buying, your business records, highest clearance to the files at the Police Force and since you have no children I want to be named an the next head of the Clan, an heir," Naruto stated seriously. "If I am going to be Yondiame Hokage I need to be something more than just another Uchiha, we need to show them that Madara's blood is still in power here."
"All in favor for Naruto's requests," Kagami rang out in a serious tone. Wordlessly all hands went up in favor. The Uchiha were tired of being shoved out of the village, they needed to reclaim their former glory. With Madara's grandchild, it was a final blessing from the feared man himself, he was telling them while you were dismissive of me then I will still save you now. For we Uchiha never truly burn our bridges.
