Kagami stared into the eyes he knew as a child. They were no denying his Madara had given his grandson these eyes. He had survived that final battle and fled to Uzushio to live out his last days. A deep pain settled in Kagami's chest. 'And I would have never known had Uzushio never fallen.' He thought as he canceled his eyes and Naruto did the same. 'Naruto Uchiha, directly trained by Madara and his son. His chakra is already monstrous, and combined with his Uzumaki traits he could be a force to be reckoned with.
"He isn't lying, those are Madara's eyes, I'd never forget them," He confirmed. "As such he is to be my ward for the foreseeable future. We take full responsibility for him and will provide funds."
"He needs to have his mind checked."
Kagami narrowed his eyes. "No, he doesn't," He snapped. "Uchiha secrets were passed onto him and by clan law, it is illegal to search the mind of a clan member. Also, he is a Uzumaki so the treaty extends to him."
Hiruzen snapped his jaw tight. "He was trained by Madara, this could be his final ploy."
"No offense old man," Naruto interrupted. "But my father destroyed fortresses for Uzushio causes and could go toe to toe with Kages of various calibers. What I'm implying is that if he wanted to do some ploy to foil the Leaf he would have done it with my father when the Second was around. You don't know how my grandfather suffered on his deathbed and died properly. If I am not welcomed here then I will go elsewhere, I don't have to subject myself to this sub-human treatment from a village I have no ties to. Many villages will take a descendant of Madara Uchiha."
It was a heavy threat but it worked as Hiruzen gave in and prepared Naruto's identification before letting him and Kagami leave but not before allowing several ANBU tail them. The walk back to the compound was silent until Naruto paused in his steps and turned to the Uchiha clan leader. "I want my grandfather's private home," Naruto spoke in a quiet voice. "He told me he sealed it up, I have the counter for it."
"That will be no problem, it's actually your right to have to see as you possess his blood," Kagami had no qualms about this. "How was Madara when you were growing up."
"He died when I was around 6, my grandmother had prolonged his life using various forbidden scroll knowledge of the Uzumaki clan but it could only do so much," Naruto started. "He was a quiet man, often sat by the balcony to stare into the ocean below. He would bring me into his lap and retell stories of his younger days. On days he could be more than mobile he would train me, I awakened my Sharingan at 3 due to my father coming back heavily injured from one of his missions. Because of that, he taught me the foundations that every Uchiha should know. He taught me his arsenal, his fighting style. When I was asleep he would be writing it all down for when he would pass because he could feel his life ebbing away from him."
"When he passed my father took over in his stead and with the knowledge he had written down for me I took it upon myself to become him on the battlefield—an unwavering force even in the face of death. I admired him," Naruto's face barely hinted at a warm expression but Kagami could see it in his eyes. "Any sense of pride or arrogance I have, I have earned it because I can back up my actions."
"If we had turned you away what would you have done?" He was genuinely curious but Naruto stopped in his tracks and turned to him with a blatant expression of distorted pleasure.
"I would have joined a different village, as for which one I am uncertain but number one was Kumo due to them having two jinchuriki I could take advantage of."
"Did Madara care for us even then?" Kagami was skeptical.
Naruto snorted. "Care is a strong word. It's more like he wanted to prove a point, one that I will prove for you sooner rather than later."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"When we're in private Kagami-san, the ears are becoming restless," Naruto could feel the ANBU shaking in the shadows.
Kagami sighed but he could feel a lead drop in his stomach. He had suspicions and the elders were getting their heads back on but if Naruto pointed it out then it was a serious problem that had to be rectified no matter what he had to go through. He would ensure the longevity of his clan.
