JACAERYS VELARYON III
As the sun broke through the clouds in the morning, Jacaerys found himself walking around Runestone, the air was filled with a cozy warm breeze. Jacaerys eyes looked above to the orange sky, he remembered the days in Kings Landing when his mother would take Lucerys and him on walks around the courtyard.
Jacaerys was wearing the blue cloak he was gifted by the Arryns, and he found it very comfortable. He never liked waking up early but the mornings in the Vale were slowly starting to win him over.
He found Lord Rodrik Royce, the old man was holding a piece of paper with a list of names down. He was fidgeting with his grey beard as he read over the list.
Jacaerys slowly walked over to the lord and he took each step with pride, "Lord Rodrik, Good morning."
The Lord turned his body and he looked at the Prince. His face turned from stressed to pride. He grinned from ear to ear. The lord was missing a couple of teeth that had been knocked out during a fight.
"My Prince, I hope you slept well last night." His breath smelled of mutton.
Jacaerys had enjoyed the sleep. He had preferred it to the night in the Eyrie in which he was freezing from the coldness of the mountains.
"I slept very well, I thank you for the hospitality you have shown me, my lord." The prince smiled.
The old man laughed, "Good to hear. Have you seen the young lord Arryn around?"
"You mean Harrold, right?" Jace's voice was filled with doubt.
"Ah, you are on first names I see. Yeah, Harrold. The boy promised he would meet with me before the hunt?"
"The hunt?" Jacaerys asked.
Rodrik grabbed his belly as he laughed, "Aye, the hunt. Has no one told you bout it?"
Jacaerys shook his head, he had no idea about what the older lord was talking about. He had not been informed of the hunt and was slightly hurt by the fact that Harrold had not told him about it.
"No, I haven't seen Harrold anywhere. What's the Hunt?" Jace replied.
The old man patted the prince on his shoulder as the hurt was plastered all over his face.
"I am sure it just slipped Harrold's mind. The hunt is when we all go into the mountains and we all look for the four-headed bear."
Jacaerys face switched from hurt to confusion as he heard the words six headed bear.
"A four-headed bird." The older man repeated, "I saw it once when I was younger. I was around twenty-three. My father Willard Royce, took me on a hunt when I was alone in the forest. I saw the beast with my own eyes. He was feasting on a large deer."
Jacaerys slowly nodded his head. He did not believe any word about the four-headed bear.
"And you do this hunt often?" The prince questioned.
Rodrik let out a small sigh, "It's been happening for over six hundred years. We go every couple of months and It's been a while since Harrold had joined me on one. He use to come down with his mother and I would take the boy hunting. He never saw it though."
"So this is like tradition then?"
"Very much so, Just wait for the feast that will be held after the hunt. We hunt every animal we can and we eat and drink until we can no longer stand." He laughed, patting his belly like he was dreaming of the amount of food he would eat.
"It sounds very fun, my lord. I am going to go find Harrold. So excuse me." Jace bowed his head and departed from Lord Rodrik.
Jacaerys walked around Runestone, he felt like a fool, not knowing where he was supposed to go or be. He felt certain people's eyes looking at him and admiring the brown hair that stuck to his head.
