JACAERYS VI
Dressed in a linen, red and black tunic, Jacaerys stood on the beach of dragonstone. A large Velaryon ship bobbed up and down in the sea before him. His thick black boots were covered in sand. He was fiddling with the golden crown on his head.
Behind him was his mother, she had finally left her chambers to see her children off to the Vale. She wore a low-cut kirtle made of black wool from the sheep on the island and a shiny red gem sat in a necklace around her thick neck. She had Ser Erryk standing by her side with a sword in his belt.
"You will be okay my boys. You will be safe." Rhaenyra smiled down at her youngest boys. She ruffled up their silver hair which caused Aegon to pout and Viserys to giggle.
"Why can you not come with us, Mother?" Asked Aegon who had spent the morning crying. His blue eyes were puffy and red. He did not want to leave his mother behind.
"I have to stay here on Dragonstone but Rhaena will be with you and shall keep you safe. You are going to need to be very good and strong for me. Can you do that Aegon?" Rhaenyra cupped his chin and pressed her lips to his temple.
"Yes Mother, I can be strong." He wiped the tears away with the back of his red sleeve from the doublet his mother had dressed him in.
"Look after your brother for me, keep Viserys safe," Rhaenyra said.
Aegon nodded his head before throwing his arms over his mother's shoulder. Rhaenyra hugged her son back and whispered something in his ear that Jacaerys did not hear.
Jacaerys felt a hand grab his own and he turned to see Joffrey who was dressed in a blue and silver doublet which was the colours of House Velaryon. He was now the heir of Driftmark and their grandsire wanted him to wear the colours proudly.
"Hey, Joff." Jacaerys smiled looking down on his smaller brother.
Joffrey gripped his hand tighter and whispered, "I do not want you to go."
Jacaerys knew this was because of Lucerys, he could see the pain his brother had been in. He could see the heavy bags under his eyes.
"I will be fine, Joff. I swear it, on the old gods and the new." He squeezed his brother's hand.
Joffrey huddled closer and Jacaerys wrapped an arm around his younger brother's shoulder; he placed a firm hand on Joffrey's shoulder in an attempt to comfort his brother.
"Do not worry, I will be back before you even know it," Jacaerys said.
The two turned around when they heard two girls arguing. They knew who it was before they even turned around, Baela was pestering Rhaena. Behind the two girls stood Ser Danos Waters who was watching over them.
"Jacaerys tell Baela I am going to be fine." Rhaena rolled her eyes in annoyance.
Jacaerys laughed and broke away from Joffrey, he took Baela's arm and pulled her away from her sister.
"She with be fine, Baela. No need to fret." He smiled at Baela and nodded at Rhaena who sighed with relief.
Rhaena wore a dress made from the finest silk from Pentos, it was a gown her father had gifted her. The dress was a majestic purple and it had a gold belt wrapped around her waist. The silver locks dangled down the right side of her shoulder. While Baela on the other hand wore dusty riding breaches with a red surcoat keeping her chest warm. It was clear that she had gone on an early horse ride before seeing her sister off.
"Told you," Rhaena said walking over to Joffrey who was her new betrothed as he was now the heir to Driftmark.
Joffrey smiled at her but deep down Jacaerys knew neither of them was comfortable with the new match. They would give each other looks across the room and everyone knew they did not like it however Corlys wanted them to be together and who were they to say no to their grandsire?
