Chapter 7 The Fall to Darkness

The airship ride was silent as there made their way to the Emerald Forest. Most were ignoring team CRDL except Ruby, who was keeping a close eye on them, especially Cardin, who had his arms crossed and was looking out the window; his team's mates Russel was asleep while Dove and Sky were messing around on their scrolls. Weiss was rechecking her dust for the 100th time while Blake was reading. Yang and Nora were competing on who thought there could kill the most Grimm; Ren was most silent, shaking his head at how Nora asked while Jaune was. He was trying not to throw up.

As the airship lands, Ruby still feels this dreed deep down and wonders if it will ever disappear. As the doors to the aircraft open, Jaune's team leaves first, well most Jaune running behind the aircraft to toss his cookies while Ren and Nora look on at their fearless leader, shaking their heads. Most of team rwby was about to leave when Cardin got up and patted each of them on the back in a bit of good luck, smiling at them. The girls were weirded out by this and kept walking, not seeing Cardin Deeping smile. The Pilot, in his Groff's voice, tells the team he be back at 5 pm, which gets Jaune to check his scroll and says, "It's 9 am" The Pilot, not amused, just closes the bay door and begins to fly off. A text comes over from Ozpin telling them to each head in one direction and to stay in constant contact; Team JNR and Team RWBY find the message a bit weird till Cardin, in a commanding voice, tells them that there see them at pick-up. As there walk away, Cardin looks over his shoulder and gives Rwby a smile, sending a shiver up her spine. Weiss asks Ruby if she is alright, but she brushes it off. The two teams head off on their own to fight the Grimm. Meanwhile, a mystery person is holding a black scroll, smiling. "Everything is going to plan, and soon the seed I planted will grow and begin to bloom fruit," she chuckles to herself.

The mission was going well for the team rwby, and their teamwork was improving. They were killing Grimm, and Ruby was with her close friends and teammates; soon, it was about 4 pm, so the girls took a break, but seeing a large amount of Grimm there, they decided to take watch every 15 mins. Ruby was first on watch duty and figured she could lean against the tree and rest. They're low on dust and many other supplies, so waiting out the last hour is best. Weiss walked over to Ruby, her arms behind her back. "Hey Ruby, you got a moment?" she asked Ruby. "Sure, what is up, Weiss" Weiss begins by asking Ruby if everything is ok and if there is anything I, Yang, and Blake can do. Ruby tries to avoid the answer, but Weiss keeps pushing, angering her. She is about to break when a voice behind them yells, "Grimm coming our way, and there is a lot of them!" yes, Yang was right. A lot of Grimm are charging them. It looks to be about 50 of them with a fix of Lancers, boarbatusk, beowlfs, Beringel and one larger than normal Hound, which surprised the girls as there not face a large hound like this.

"How is there this main Grimm? Ozpin said there only be only Ursa and Boarbatusks!" Blake says as she starts working on the Lancer, flying around the girls quickly, "Maybe Ozpin got his info wrong!" Yang said as she finished punching another beringel as two or three surrounded her. Weiss and Ruby work on the Boarbatusk using a combo of their semblance to try and lower their numbers, but it seems there is no end to them. "I do not get it! Where are all these Grimm coming from!" Weiss screams as she keeps fighting; Ruby, on the other hand, charges through and heads for the Hound at the back, thanks to her semblance. She fights with her sniper at the Hound's weak points and even goes for its legs with her scythe as she takes a least one leg, but it begins to regenerate the portion slowly; it makes it charge at Ruby as she uses her semblance to try and get away when out of nowhere everything just slows down. Rwby looks and notices her team members fighting their hardest but also that her semblance didn't activate, that when the Hound spikes tear into her cape and drag her back, the Hound runs around the battlefield before stopping, thanks to Yang, seeing her sister in trouble and punching the Hound. A Loud bang from Yang's Gauntlets, but because of the force from the sudden stop, Ruby fly's forward in the air, giving Weiss just enough time to catch her before she hit the ground, "Thanks, Weiss, I own you on," which cause Weiss, to blush but smile. Blake, in a tired voice, says to her friends, "How can this many Grimm cause all these problems" The girls are wondering how these usually weak Grimm are overpowering the four of them as there surround them, their back up as there try to figure out what to as light comes from the ground which seems to stop the Grimm in their place, "I think the Grimm are scary of the light" Yang says as her hell marry has come. "I don't think that the case Ruby says, still holding onto Weiss," and Ruby was right; what there thought was helping them was nothing more than a trap. The light grows and fills a large area, blocking the girl's vision as it covers them.
