The oasis

The road to the desert was long and they had to face many obstacles along the way. They passed most of the time having conversations. The evening, however, came down fast and they had to set up a camp. They resided at the border of the Desert and the Forest Realm, so they were close to the goal, but the the way was still so long. They built their temporary sleeping places out of large sticks, but it was quite hard to make one big enough for Dion. At last he decided that he was fine without it. The team divided and everybody got different tasks: Kira went hunting, Dion and Rocky picked berries and Aisha looked for water. When every single member of the team returned, they started a campfire. Kira started to cook a big hare, while the others ate from the found berries.

-"Say, Dion, can't you fly us to this oasis?" -Asked Kira out of the blue.

-"Right, that would be much faster." -Aisha approved.

Dion started to nervously move his wings around and he turned his head away.

-"No. That's not necessary..."

The others watched him quietly, then they went back to mind their own business. Dion also started to slowly eat. When they finished the food, Kira suddenly took and threw one of her gloves at Aisha. Aisha couldn't react in time and she put her hands up to her face to protect herself. When she haven't felt anything touching her, she put her hands down and asked:

-"What was this?"

-"You still have to work on your reflexes." -Kira commented.

Aisha started to get tired of Kira's behavior.

-"Must you always do this?"

-"I'm only doing this, so you can have a chance to survive."

-"And is it necessary to do it like that?"

-"Well, it's my way." -Kira laughed.

Aisha didn't say anything and stormed to her sleeping place. Kira looked at Dion.

-"What's her problem?"

Dion shrugged, then Rocky spoke:

-"Maybe she is hungry because she didn't eat enough. I'm like that when I'm hungry too."

-"First of all, Rocky, you're always like this. Second of all, is your mind always on eating?" -Kira spat it at him.

-"Of course, there's no life without food." -And he went back to eating leaves.

Kira sighed.

-"You really shouldn't force it like this." -Dion spoke up. -"This world is still new for her and she's just trying to find her place."

Kira watched the fire burn.

-"That's why I want her to know how to protect herself. She doesn't know this world well yet."

-"I know, but you could be..."

-"More lenient towards her?"

-"Yes, something like that."

-"Maybe..."

They watched the fire for some time, everybody in thought, except Rocky, because he was asleep.

-"I'll stand guard." -Exclaimed Dion.

-"Well, if you want to." -Kira said and she returned to her own sleeping space.

Dion stood up and took his place next to a banana tree.

Morning came pretty soon and every minute was precious. They had to prepare as fast as they could. Once again they were on journey. They entered through the borders and they went to the road leading to the desert. Kira lead the team, in the middle was Aisha, at the end Dion, with Rocky in his arms naturally, guarded the group. Dion walked to Aisha's horse, Opal, and started to speak with girl about last night.
