Time seemed to stop. What was the meaning of life? What was death? Were we alone in the universe? Why was K-pop music so good?
Did anything matter when Luke Miller was kissing Aria Matthews? I didn't think so.
After the initial aggression, his kiss gentled, his lips soft and coaxing. Tasting me like fine wine. As if he was unsure of my reaction. His hands were on the door behind me, bracing me against it. I could feel the strong lines of his body.
Then slowly he tilted my face so he could deepen the kiss and all coherent thought evaporated. My body was on fire. Slowly, I felt my way up his chest and pushed my fingers into his hair to hold him to me.
Then I kissed him back, pouring all my frustration and anger into it.
It was like the floodgates were opened.
His fervor increased to a fever pitch, one of his hands dropping to grip my waist. I could feel his restrained strength as he held me. The way he kissed me hungrily. Like he was starving. As if he had been wanting this for a very long time. He kissed me deeply and I matched his urgency, stroke by stroke.
But we were both startled apart when the bell rang loudly.
We stared at each other, dazed. I had no idea how much time had passed. It was like I couldn't catch my breath as my eyes wandered over him. His hair was adorably tousled, cheeks flushed. Why was he so handsome?
"I think..." I croaked, my voice filled with gravel. I cleared my throat. "I think I should go." I was this close to skipping the rest of the day and just making out with him in that empty classroom, but... No, I had no idea why I wasn't doing exactly that.
"Okay," he answered, still looking stunned.
Biting back a bashful smile, I turned to leave but he grabbed my wrist. "Wait." He shook his head confusedly. "I think you killed most of my brain cells."
I couldn't stop my grin at that. He smiled back at me. "Can we talk after school today?" he asked, running his thumb over the sensitive skin on my inner wrist that sent tiny sparks all over my body. "I can drop you home today."
"I thought you had your tutoring session with Travis after school."
"Yeah." He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "I don't think I can concentrate on the two classes we have left, let alone tutor someone. Today, I'm useless."
I ducked my head, a wide grin breaking free. "Yeah," I said. "We can talk after school."
"I think we need to decide on how to tell people about us." We were at my place and as usual, Luke was sprawled on my bed as I cautiously took the desk chair.
"Okay." I tried not to be distracted by his flexing biceps as he tucked his hands behind his head with his eyes closed.
"And what exactly are we going to tell them?"
