When I do wake up, I reach for her and she isn't there. I panic slightly before I realize that the shower is running. Glancing at the clock, I realize I've slept much later than I usually do, and throw the covers back. I slip into the bathroom, smiling a little in amusement as I hear her singing to herself. I shut the door and she notices me.

"Lindsey!" She frantically tries to cover herself and I laugh, stepping into the shower with her.

"Really? Do you remember what we did last night?"

"You couldn't see me!"

"Yes, I could, and I loved every bit of it," I assure her, pulling her into my arms and kissing her. "Good morning, by the way."

"Good morning," she says, relenting and wrapping her arms around my waist. She kisses my chest a couple times before she looks up at me and smiles. "I'm about done. I'll go start breakfast while you finish up."

"Mmm, stay," I say, kissing her again, my hands starting to wander over her wet skin. She's apparently amused by my blatant come on, and she smirks a little.

"I'm already done," she repeats, pulling away from me, but I grab her and pull her back to me. There's no way she's getting out of here this easily. Feeling a little bold this morning, I drop to my knees and grab her butt, diving between her legs with my tongue. She lets out a yelp of surprise, but her hands tangle in my hair immediately, so I continue, staying with her as she stumbles back against the wall to support herself. I look up at her, the water running over her body, one hand pulling at her breast as she throws her head back. I smile a little to myself, a little proud that I can still get this reaction from her. Her knees buckle as she comes, and I catch her, helping her down onto the tile floor of the shower.

She laughs a little, apparently a little surprised at herself, and I kiss her once before I stand and help her to her feet. "Still want to go?" She shakes her head and throws her arms around my neck lazily, biting at my lower lip playfully. God, I missed this.

I turn off the shower and we dry off quickly. She wraps a towel around herself and starts to brush her hair. I quickly yank it off of her, and she raises an eyebrow at me. I shrug, letting her know it's her move and she laughs before lunging at me and pushing me back onto the bed. This time, she's relaxed. She let's me make love to her, and all of the pain and tension from the night before is gone. This is how it should be with her.

I gather her into my arms and she sighs happily against my chest. "We're okay now, right?" I have to ask her.

"Yes. I'm so glad you're here."

"You know at some point I'm going to take you home, right?" I try to broach the subject gently, but I can't hole up here with her forever. We both have lives to live. She has a daughter that I know she misses immensely.

"Can we not talk about that now?" She asks, and she seems so content that I can't push her anymore.

"What do you want, baby?"

"I don't know, Lindsey. Please don't ask me hard questions right now."

"I just need you to know that we have to figure this out. Not today, but you can't hide forever."

"Why not? A lot of people do it."

"You're not those people. You have a lot more to do than hide on a beach."

She sits up and looks at me frustrated. "If you flew out here to lecture me and drag me back to California you can go get on a plane right now. That is not why I let you stay, Lindsey." She's already out of the bed, pulling a sundress over her head.

"Stevie..."

"Don't 'Stevie' me!" I see her anger growing quickly and get nervous. "You have no idea what these last couple years have been like."

"Because you fucking disappeared!" I stand and cover myself with a robe as she starts to yell.

"Oh shut up! I told you I was sorry!" She starts to cry and I quickly realize that was the exact wrong thing to say. "I'm trying to open up to you. You're the first person I've even spoken to besides Karen and my daughter. Now you're going to stand here and make me feel guilty? Fuck you, Lindsey." She storms out before I have a chance to say anything. I start to follow her, but she shoots me down quickly. "Don't you dare follow me right now," she says, not looking back at me. "And you'd better be gone when I get back."

I stand there helplessly, listening to her sobs get louder, then wince slightly as the door slams. I see her through the window, walking toward the water and watch her pick up speed as she crosses the sand. She dives straight into the ocean and I sit, watching her swim out until I can see a tiny white blur in the crystal water. Did I already fuck things up?

Sorry for the slow update! Driving across the country is getting in the way of internet time. ;)
