"Emily! You're late!" My boss Brittany yells at me.
I check my watch. Eight fifty-five, five minutes before my job starts. "I am?" I ask.
She laughs. "No, I'm totally kidding,"
I roll my eyes as I laugh. "God, you scared me!"
She laughs again as she hands me a stack of papers. "Your first test, edit this. It's one-fourth of an actual book, and I'll be editing the rest. I'm am going to be editing this after you're done, though." She says.
"Okay!" I say, taking the stack and heading to my makeshift desk.
Grammar mistake, grammar mistake, spelling mistake, 'you're', not 'your', grammar mistake, for half an hour and finally, I'm done. But I know that I have to go through it two or three more times before I'm actually done, and then I have to go through it twice without finding any mistakes.
God, sometimes I hate this job.
I finally finish editing, and I hand the stack to Brittany.
"You're done already?" She asks me.
"Um...yes?" I say, not knowing that the two hours it took me was considered 'short'.
"Okay then, I'll go through it and make sure that there are absolutely no errors," she mumbles as she walks away with the papers.
I call after her. "What do I do now?"
She calls back. "Just hang around, and I'll get something to you soon enough!"
Okay then...I sit back down at my desk and text Lily.
