It was a chaotic day in the duke's mansion. Rumors began to spread that the dual princess, Olivia, was sick. Some servants even speculated that she was pretending to be sick to draw the duke's attention. Only those who were close to Olivia knew the truth. The rumors would not leak information or gossip unless they wanted to die, as they had signed a none disclosure contract. So what happens in the mansion stays in the mansion.
The moon was at its highest, a little bit after midnight. The moon covered everything in a soft white glow, it seeped through Olivia's balcony window illuminating her face. She was the only that was currently awake within the mansion. She sat on the balcony railing with her short legs dangling from more than six meters high. She had trouble sleeping, it was not the fear of death but the fear of life. She stared at the starless night and asked no one in particular.
"Why am I alive? What kind of twisted punishment is this? Haven't I repented enough? What is the purpose of living? If it's to torcher me then you've succeeded." As if it was a response the wind blew her hair gently. Olivia watched the night sky until it passed whilst the coming of the sun. She watched until the sun rises making the moon hide, dyeing the sky with a burst of orange and a touch of light pink. All of her memories flashed by in her lifeless red and blue eyes.
It was supposed to be a heartwarming scene but her eyes held no fluctuations of any emotions in them. It didn't take long before the maids approach, the third floor, towards Olivia's room. "Tock! Tock! Tock! Tock!" the knocking sound filled the empty room. "Princess Olivia, can we enter?" Marian asked she got no response but after thirty minutes there was still no response. Marian did not panic, she along with the other maids, calmly went inside after unlocking Olivia's door. They made their way toward Olivia's bed only to be greeted by an empty bed that was untouched. The maids started to panic and were frantically searching around for Princess Olivia. " Princess Olivia, where are you? princess!" Marian shouted with a shaky breath while listening out for the princess' call.
The maids scattered around Olivia's room searching and calling the scene was a bit chaotic. All the while Olivia sat on the balcony railing watching them coldly. Lola, one of her personal maids, went to search the balcony. She came upon the sight of Olivia dangling on the balcony. Lola's face paled visibly to the naked eye, she was panicking inside and out but she tried to calm herself down. She slowly approached Olivia with caution in each step in fear of scaring her. Lola continued to approach Olivia with a soft yet shaky voice and said," Pr-princess Olivia p-lease, please let me help you down from the balcony," the Uneasiness evident in the voice of the maid sounded with caution.
Despite the tense atmosphere, Olivia was unaffected by the Suttle atmosphere it was as if they were mere ants and she was a mighty dragon. Lola softly approached Olivia reaching close enough to help her down or push her off before she could lift her -up- from the balcony. With one swift movement, she turned around and jumped off the railing landing smoothly on the floor. Lola was terrified she swore her heart was held by a beast it was obvious who that beast was. Yet the person who caused this small range chaos, Olivia was calm well a rather indifferent expression on his face. Olivia passed her casually and went into her room while Lola along with the maids inside the room were left embarrassed.
Only Marian didn't feel this way, when Marian saw Princess Olivia the worry and anxiety that was on her face was replaced with relief. " Princess, where were you? Are you alright? Your eyes are puffer than yesterday. Your hands are cold as well let's get you a warm bath princess," she said inspecting the princess' body. Marian didn't have to order the other maids to set a bath for the princess yet they had started without being ordered.
"Mari am fine, I just woke up a little early so I sat by the balcony," Olivia said cheerfully with a bright smile on her face. If you look closely you would have seen that her eyes held no emotions if not for the fact that they were closed. It didn't take long for Olivia to get a bath and had breakfast.
