Washington Hights

Mary was 16 in 1955, living with her mother and father in Washington Hights, and times where very different so let's go back.

Winter of '40 (did y'all know February is winter?)

"Isn't she lovely?" the middle aged woman said, "yes, yes she is" says the middle aged men. Mary didn't actually grow up in Washington Hights, she was actually born and raised in Florida, she grew up on big lands of anchor inherited from her great great grandfather. "This is your new home baby Mary" the new mother says as she steps out the car, to be met with a huge white house with Picket-fence all around, it was the all American families dream home.

Summer of '45

Little Mary had grown up to have many friends. "Of course we can arrange a playdate with little Timmy" Susan says while talking on the landline, "hon don't you think Mary should try to make her own friends? On her own?" Thomas says as he read his news, "oh I'm just giving her a little push, isn't that right Mary?" "Yea" Mary says.

"Is that little Mary? Come and give grandpa a hug" A elderly man says, "grandpa!" Mary yells as she runs to her grandpa, "I have a surprise for youu" "what? What is it?" "Close your eyes" he says and she dose just that, about 3 minutes passed, "open" he says and she sees a big sucker. "Oh daddy please don't spoil her" Susan said, "oh Sussie I did it to you, and look how you turned out?, just fine" he says as Mary begins to demolish the sucker, "ok daddy whatever you say, but if Mary wakes up with a stomach ache tomorrow it's on you" she says and grandpa laughs.

Winter of '50

"Oh daddy-o you got me a Chatty Cathy" Mary says as she reveals her Chatty Cathy. "Of course doll, you couldn't stop talking about it" Thomas said as Mary gets up and hugs him, "oh dear this is from your grandpa" Susan says as she gives her a little pink box, she opens the box to see a necklace. "It's beautiful" she says as she puts it on, it was pearls all around it but except the middle where it had a red bedazzled ruby heart, "where is grandpa anyway?" She asked "he said he would be here tomorrow to see how that necklace looks on you" Susan said...but he never came.

"We're not to just here to mourn but to celebrate the return of a life to our Heavenly Father. Edward Smith has met our savior Jesus Christ, can I get aman?"  The pastor says as he preaches over Mary's Grandpa. After that day Mary wasn't the same.

Summer of '54

"What do you mean where moving?" Mary says. "I mean where moving out of Florida" Thomas says "but why daddy?, Why leave all This behind?, What about grandpa?" She says "look pa is dead ok?, For five years now. Look doll I know this is hard but daddy's got some good going on here" he says but Mary doesn't wants to listen. "Oh just stuff it!" She says "what did you just say to me?!" He says as Mary stumps up the stairs,"you better get your shit together young lady, because this is reality!" He yells back before she slams the door and cries into her pillow. "I wish pa was still here" she says as she holds her pearls.

"Here we are" Thomas says as they arrive into a overgrown driveway and stop. "Daddy what is this?" Mary says, "this is our new home!" he says he gets out and they follow him inside. "Don't you love it?" He saying as the girls look around, "could use some fixing" Susan says "I liked the old house better" Mary says as she walks upstairs, "Mary young lady you-" "let her go for a bit" Susan says.

Spring of '55

Mary's been in Washington Hights for 9 months now and she only made two friends, but it was through her fathers school. "Now ladies and gentlemen introducing The Penguins with Earth Angel...*clap* *clap* *clap.....Earth Angel will you be mine? My darling dear Love you all the time I'm just a fool A fool in love with you" the radio sings. "Did you see Tommy today?, He's such a dreamboat" Judy says as she's finishing her makeup, "I did oh and did you see when he made that touchdown?!, I almost melted" Sherry says back to Judy, "don't you think Mary?" The girls ask Mary but she didn't respond, "Mary?" Judy says as she walks over to her, "huh?" Mary says knocked out of her Daz. "Did you hear us talking to you?" Sherry says, "yeah I was just thinking about the party and who's going to be there" Mary says while holding her pearls, "I know right and speaking of it we should get going" Judy says as she gathers her bookbag.

"Do you have any foundational?" Judy asks Sherry "no, I left it over Mary's" she says as the girls all changed clothes. "Well that's nifty" Judy says as she finishes changing, "ok ladies let's go" Mary says as they walk towards the party.

"I had a bitchin' time girls" a drunk Judy says, "me too and Mary who was that flutter bum you were talking to?" Sherry asks as the girls make sure Judy doesn't fall over. "His name is Jeff and let me tell you he was an apple butter" she says "he looked like a bundie" Judy says drunkenly and the girls laugh as they walk.

I don't know when I'm going to post this part but it will be after Harlem so yeah.
