When it was suggested that he work for the ICA, this isn't what Amras had in mind. He thought he would be a Private Contractor that the Agency called in as needed, like a couple of his brothers were. When he reached out to the Agency however, they were in dire need of Handlers. Especially Handlers to work with Private Contractors. And so he enlisted with the Handler Program with the expectation that his brothers would be on his roster; as they were sometimes "difficult to work with".
Instead, only one of his brothers, Caranthir, was assigned to his roster. And the other Private Contractor on the roster was a former Jedi Padawan of 18 years old named Anastasia Jordan.

Between the two of them, Amras was sure that he'd be put into an early grave from stress. And it didn't help when he learned that Anastasia was a Dragonlord and had a two year old son.
Then the most irksome thing started happening. Difficult contracts would come through, and his brother would be unreachable. But the ex Jedi wasn't.
While she did the job well enough, some of these contracts put her in grave danger. And because she was a young mother and a friend of his brother's granddaughter, he felt obligated to pull her arse out of the fire every time she got into a sticky situation.
He didn't know how much he started to care about her until one of her victims bit back. During a Contract in Thailand, in the process of getting close to her target, she was poisoned.
Mr Oliver Beldingford, youngest son of Lord Winston Beldingford, was a notorious womanizer and an alleged rapist; he was vacationing in Thailand in the hopes of finding easy women, or literally anyone else with a pulse that would let him have his way with them. This appetite is what earned him a price on his head as he allegedly attempted to have his way with someone important to the British Royal Family, by force if he deemed it necessary, and apparently wasn't above using a child to get what he wanted. Thus the anonymous client was shelling out nearly eleven figures, 98.9B including the Agency's cut and his commission, to see Beldingford removed from the census. And for reasons Amras didn't understand, Anastasia jumped at this as if it were a lifeline.
