It's time to start the pre-season and Jake is ready, sure there's still a lot of buzz around him and what he's gone through but he's never wanted anything to do with sympathy, he just wants people to learn from what he's been through to get to where he is, a starting quarterback for one of the favorite teams for the AFE East and the AFC Championships this season, all they have to do is top the Pats, the Bills and the Dolphins, not an easy thing for the Jets to do but they can do it and that's the point.
Duncan: Ready to go Cap?
Jake already liked hearing that, not because he's egotistical, he's far from that, but it's just nice to know that your team mates, your friends have so much trust and love for you that they are willing to call you a leader, it's nice and Jake loves that about being the called the Captain.
Jake: Just keep them off me and we'll add that Superbowl to the cabinet.
The last time Jake won a Superbowl he was a backup and wasn't able to really enjoy the sweet sensation of winning the title because he doesn't feel like he won it, of course his names on the record and he's part of the team roster but he hasn't really earned that ring, which is why it sits in his sock draw waiting till he can say he earned it, which will only be when he wins a Superbowl title, himself.
Duncan: Damn straight. Let's break some legs!
Jake chuckled at the Tight End's mentality, he liked it and all but he has to remember this is just training and if he injures anyone, it'll be a member of their own team so once they had their gear on ready for the first training session before their game this weekend against the Cleveland Browns, it's a Home game so they have that advantage.
Jake: Just don't break them too bad, we need them for the season.
The two shared fist bumps and went into training to get ready for this weekend, the country is buzzing for the start of the season and even Jake's friends and loved ones are going to be there for the game, it's going to be a lot of fun and great to see Jake taking on the Captain role on the field and not just on the grounds...

It's Friday, August 4th 2023 and the world is ready for the start of the NFL Season for the New York Jets at the MetLife Stadium, it's going to be amazing for the fans who haven't seen a Championship here since 1969, imagine that, 80% of the crowd right now weren't even born yet when the Jets ran the Sport across the Country.
Robert: ... Captain, a few words?
Robert asked looking to Jake as he sat on the bench, he's ready for the match, just not wearing his helmet, not yet he's not, he was just taking in the Captain's logo on his jersey now, it's not something he expected but it's something he feels privileged to have, he did have a little bit to say though so he nodded and stood up, mentally ready for the season already.
Jake: I know what your all thinking. "It's just pre-season, I'll save my best for the real thing" and your right, this is just pre-season...
The team listened to him as he stood by the coaches and gave his first speech as Captain, they all of course know what he went through as a kid and just have so much more respect for him now then ever before, to hear someone so close to them got sexually assaulted when he was a child and pushed his way to here, it's inspiring.
Jake: ... But this is also the beginning. The beginning of the biggest season of your lives, I'm not sure how you all feel but I want that Superbowl title this year...
