Satine was so afraid of love.
I have always thought that way. She was afraid of love but she knew she was craving it. She knew she was dying the entire time but that didn't make her fail to try and live her dreams.
She was a prostitute that wanted to be an actress, and ended up finding love in-between, but then she lost it all. It is such a tragic finale, furthermore, for me, it makes me want to be like her. She wasn't afraid of life or death, she lived at her fullest and I would like to think that I can be like her too.
The comfort the story brings me is such an amazing feeling, the play left me crying, but also had me singing, laughing, and smiling. Just like everytime I see the movie.
Satine was never ashamed of her job. She was just afraid of love because she knew she was dying. I am afraid of love because I am ashamed of my former job. That is the difference between her and me.
My innocence was taken away from me too soon.
"I can see her!" Harry snaps me out of my thoughts as the three of us make our way through the crowd of people that is existing the theater, and some waiting for the actors to come out just like us.
Harry takes my hand and-
He takes my hand.
I needed a moment to take it in.
Harry takes my hand and I take Shannon's as he pushes people out of our way while I say sorry behind him since he is leaving a trail of angry people.
Luckily, he actually reaches the place and takes Bianca's attention lifting his hand. The second I see her, I go running to her. "How could you not tell me you got Satine!" I say as I hug her, "Ugh, you did so good, I cried so much."
Bianca just laughs, "I wanted it to be a surprise!" She then hugs Shannon and Harry, both congratulating her on her acting and singing.
"I was so surprised when you began to sing, you have an incredible voice." Harry says to her and she blushes. "You were amazing."
"Thank you, Harry.." Her smile is so big that you can see her dimples sinking in her face. "Let's get out of here! I'm starving!" She changes the subject, clearly all shy.
"I know a place close, c'mon." Shannon says, leading the way with Bianca throwing her arms around her.
Bia pushes her closer, "Salvatore della mia vita, Shannon Darling!" She exclaims, skipping on her steps, her excitement and stamina all over the place.
I am left next to Harry once more since my two friends are skipping like kids a couple of meters in front of us, and they have no idea what happens between him and I.
"Did you have fun?" He asks.
I smile, "Yeah, it was incredible. Did you? What was your favorite part?"
"I loved it, and Roxanne always gets me but the beginning was stunning as well. Costumes were very pretty."
"Yeah, true." I agree. "Bia got all shy because of you earlier, I think she likes you."
He throws his head back laughing, "Does she?"
I shrug, "Maybe."
"Look at you all jealous, don't think I didn't notice it-"
"What are you talking about? Your ego is too big, boy." I shake my head, laughing.
"Whatever you say," Harry smiles at me, "Didn't you say she didn't like guys?"
