...
I woke up from an unusually long nap, but where am I? I slowly opened my eyes, trying to take in all my surroundings. Everything was blurry and I could barely make anything out. As the minutes passed, my vision gradually became clearer. I was in a hospital. My head and my heart were pounding.
I couldn't remember anything.
I could feel the beads of sweat running down my face as my anxious thoughts took over. Suddenly, a nurse walked in."Looks like you've woken up," she said. "How are you feeling?"
I just nodded silently, still trying to understand the situation."Your name... It's sunny, right?" She said. "Sunny... " she repeated.
I just nodded again. What else was I supposed to say? My mind was still trying to grasp the situation, and my heart raced a million miles per hour.
The nurse walk towards me, her face full of concern. She placed a gentle hand on my forehead, checking for a fever."Oh dear... " she said.
"I'm afraid your temperature is quite high."
I sat up in my hospital bed, trying to comprehend what was going on. Why was I here? Why did the nurse seem so worried?"W-what's going on?" I asked, my voice shaky and quivering. The fear was evident in my eyes. My left eye... why is it covered by a bandage? I tried to look towards the nurse to ask about it, but I couldn't move my head. I wondered what had happened.
"Did I hurt my eye?" I asked. "What's going on?"
The nurse looked down at me, concern evident on her face.
"Sunny, do you remember what happened just before you came here to the hospital?" she asked, a hint of hesitation in her voice.
"I... I don't remember," I said slowly, trying to collect my thoughts. "What happened?"
The nurse seemed to be deep in thought, trying to come up with a way to explain the situation to me without causing any more confusion.
"Sunny," she began slowly. "Do you remember anything about what happened just before you came to the hospital?" She repeated.
I shook my head, feeling my heart race in my chest. I was suddenly very worried and I felt a wave of panic wash over me.
The nurse moved closer to me, her face showing more concern with each passing second. It was as if she knew what happened, but wasn’t telling me. I wanted to know the truth, and I wanted to understand why my memory was failing me. I needed to know what happened...
I looked up at her anxiously. She was just staring at me, as if she wanted to help me but didn’t know how to. My mind was racing with so many thoughts and unanswered questions. I was growing more and more anxious with every passing second."You have to understand, Sunny. Your both young children and that fight is neither of your faults." She explained slowly. I wanted to know what happened, but I was too scared to figure out the truth aswell.
"Do you remember a fight with your friend Basil?" She began. I slightly nodded my head, not really remembering much but the feeling of pain I felt washing over me.
"I-it was.. it was at his house. In his bathroom - I think.."
The nurse let out a sigh of relief. She seemed to be genuinely concerned for me, and she wanted me to remember.
"Oh good, you do remember," she said. "That fight was a terrible accident. Neither of you wanted this to happen. Do you understand that Sunny?"
"Y-yeah..." I muttered quietly. "I think so."
"Good, I just needed to make sure." she said, sounding relieved.
I looked back at her, wondering how badly my memory was failing me. I couldn't remember much at all......
I slowly turned my head, taking notice of the flowers in the room. The flowers brought a scent of freshness and serenity with them, which was a welcome change from the stale smell at the hospital.
I continued to scan the room, noticing more details. It was a very clean and organized space. The bed was covered in white linens, and the walls were a light shade of yellow. The lights were dimmed, giving the room a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. I couldn't remember how long I had been here, but seeing the flowers made the time seem longer than it was...
"How long have I been here, exactly?" I asked, my voice less shaky but my words still moved slowly.
The nurse hesitated to respond. She took a moment to think about how to answer my question. She must've been worried that if she told me how long it had been, it might cause me to panic. But I couldn't help but be curious.
"It's been about a week," she said finally. I was surprised to hear that I had been here that long. The flowers on the vase next to the bed must've been fake or else they would've wilted by now.
A week had passed and I was just starting to regain my memory. What else had happened?
