Chapter 1
Apala
Apala awoke in a darkly lit room chained to the wall when he spots the poor young to his left side and struggles against the chains, eyes darting wildly around. A large table sat across the room, bloody tools lay upon it. Along with those tools were the quills and feathers Apala had deemed, painfully missing, along with some of the strange Wyvern childs feathers. Apala looked back over at them to notice humongous burn scars along her face and eyes. He gags and winces at his poor body missing those quills and feathers. He adjusted his lithe body to no avail in getting free. Suddenly a large black female dragon steps in. She has dark orange eyes and a large golden crown. She was adorned with many jewels of oranges and golds. In a deep booming voice erupted from the accented dragon's throat, "Finally awake are we, strange creature." She loomed up the table and grabbed a sharp, curved tool. Apala snarled at her. "What do you want with us!?" She stepped over and held the sharp tool up to his belly. "I want to cut you into pieces and make a weapon out of you." She grinned wickedly. Apala snapped his jaws at her face only being able to barely graze her face because of the chains. "Who in the feathers and fur even are you?!" She took a step back and dug the tool into his skin, blood slightly oozing, "I am Haren, Queen Haren. Don't forget it, fool." He snarled "do you even know who your talking to?! I am prince apala, the last of my tribe!" She pulled the sharp tool away from his belly. "Oh, royalty, well then..." Her motion blurred and she was suddenly at the small scarred wyvern Young. "Then how fun it will be to rip this other one apart in front of you!" She smiled a toothy large grin. The tool whipped over and went right into the young's wing, tearing it. They let out a blood curdling scream opening her large pale blue glazed eyes. The small Wyverns entire body quivered and she had tears streaming down her cheeks, wing membranes were one of the places that had the most nerves. Blood splattered the walls around them and she let her body go limp. "Want to see more?" Queen Haren cackled to Apala, lifting the sharp tool again. "No! Why are you doing this to us?! Just let us go!" He yowled. "Because, I can! Now time for round two!" Just as she went to make another slash at the small Youngs wing the wall opposite from them exploded into shards and an angry green wyvern appeared. They were too small to have created a blast like that. "Get away from them or I'll cut your tongue for the lies you sell." She stepped forward and lifted her tail, it had a sharp set of rods connected to it by tied leather strips. He stared at the wyvern with curiosity in his eyes. "Who are you?!" He asked head tilting the best it could in his current situation. "An unordinary wyvern showing mercy to a weirdly mutated dragon." She smiled, cocking her head sideways, teasing him knowing what tribe he was from. He glared at her. "Please just get me out of here before I die of blood loss" he snarled as blood literally poured out of his wounds. "Oki FINE, lemme kick this 'Queens' ass." The large black dragon leapt at the wyvern and bowled her over and the two rolled out into the blinding sunlight. A Seafoam colored dragon head stuck into the opening gap and they ran in. The male dragon began to unchain Apala as fast as possible while applying a rag to Apala's wound with his tail. He stumbled when he was freed, his wings folding against his sides. "Thanks for the rescue," he said as sweetly as possible through the pain in his belly. "I'm Chant, you?" The seafoam green dragon said, unchaining the last bit on Apala and moving on to the Wyvern child. "Apala," he said simply. "What should I do now?" He asked, taking the rag and holding it to his belly. "If you can go help Ember outside, though she's a strong fighter, I'm sure you saw how small she is." A sudden voice from outside yelled, "I'm offended!" And then she grunted and went back to fighting. He stumbled out and opened his jaws to spit venom in Harens face. Ember seemed to understand what he was doing, she kicked Haren at Apala, the sudden movement knocked her off balance. Ember let out a gurgle and spat up some blood in the action. He let the venom fly out of his jaws into Harens face. Haren rolled over and screamed, writhing and shrieking. Ember stood up and managed to take a step, spitting up more blood from the wound in her throat. Suddenly, The young and Chant stepped out of the cave and when Apala looked he noticed that the wounds on the Youngs wings were gone. He was astonished when the young was guided to him, and she put her claws on his belly. Right where the wound was she wound her paws over and blue fire suddenly erupted, it didn't burn but healed the wound. Then she was guided to Ember and healed the now unconscious Wyverns throat. Blood still stained his white feathers and fur but he felt relief of his wounds. He stared at the young being led head tilting. "Why is she being guided?" Ember took a deep breath and stood up, shaking herself she said, "Sadly, not too long ago she was blinded. Thanks Ciala." She said towards Apala and then towards the small blue, blind Wyvern. He nods in understanding "we should get going before the guards catch up" he pointed out. Ember turned and mumbled something under her breath. A large amount of black and purple appeared and golden strips of pure power flashed out from under the strange Wyverns blindfold. Chant led Ciala through and Ember stepped back to let Apala through. She extended a wing, pointing to the strange portal. "Hop on through, it's safe over there right now." He stepped into the portal gazing around. The strange group was now in a large room with stone walls and a large opening out to the sea. Stone chairs with royal cushions lined the walls of the room along with interwoven veins of ruby and diamond, somewhat giving the look of a rolling tide. A large female dragon, slightly resembling Chant stood in the center of the room. She was adorned with a large crown and many gold and blue jewels. She looked majestic and queenly from the way she held herself as she stepped forward to greet the group. She glared distrustfully at Ember and Ciala while saying, "I'm glad the rescue went well, I'm surprised the Wyverns didn't try to betray us." Apala glared up at her but nodded knowingly. The dragons and Wyverns were currently at war over the 'extinction' of Apala's entire tribe. Ember stepped forward and smiled brightly, then she trotted over and rammed Apala in the side, hard enough to make him spin to face a door. The door suddenly swung open and a familiar face stepped in timidly. A small brown dragon with Blue-ish white dots on their back and wings. She quietly said, "I brought the food you asked for Queen Orca." Lifting up the plate of fish and octopus, and some other weird sea creature meat on it, the small, young dragon bowed. Apala stumbled as he was practically throttled, snarling at Ember before turning to the voice, eyes widening in disbelief. The queenly figure turned and grabbed the platter, "Thanks Fawn." Suddenly the small brown dragon whipped around and said loudly in disbelief, "Apala you're still alive?!?" From the corner of his eye Apala saw Ciala flinch back at the loud voice. "Yeah barely," he said pointing at his bloodied underbelly. She stumbled forward and studied the blood stains carefully. "But there's no wound?" He then proceeded to point at his poor, poor, missing feathers and spines. "Mhm." Queen Orca grunted at Fawn. "I think you may be needed in the kitchen again, remember you're supposed to be training the newby." Fawn stood suddenly and ran out of the room, suddenly getting a whiff of the smoke coming from the kitchen. Ember fell to the floor and started laughing hard enough a tear streamed out of her blindfold. "OH I WANT TO SEE WHISP'S FACE RIGHT NOW!" A huge wing reached out and slapped Ember upside the head really hard. Ember rolled over and thwacked Apala's hind legs with her tail, she laughed and stood up and went, "Ohhh, breathe Ember. Anyways, apologies to your majesty." She said to Queen Orca. Apala reached a wing out gingerly and shoved her over. Ember's ankle buckled under her and she caught herself with her front wings. Chant thwacked both of them and hissed, "Pay attention, mother is waiting on you two." Apala nodded, "Yeah Ember~" Ember stood up and snorted sparks at Apala then smiled and turned to Orca. Apala suddenly disappeared and reappeared behind Ember pinning her with a single wing. Ember hissed and slammed her tail into Apala's stomach. Apala rolled her onto her back and sat on her, looking up at Orca. A sudden burst of flame shot out of Ember's snout, Apala was hardly able to dodge as it whizzed past his face. Ember used the opening to knock Apala off. Ember leapt up and slammed his back into the ground hard, knocking the breath out of him. Apala shrunk and rolled away and regrew. Ember paused and stared at him in disbelief. She turned to Queen Orca, "Can we use the battlegrounds?" Queen Orca looked amused, "That's a fight I'd like to see, GUARDS!" Suddenly three guards barged in and stood in front of the queen. "Yes, your highness?" One hissed, looking around the room. "Ready the stadium, a fight shall commence." Queen Orca said loudly.
