2006...
It was snowing when you, Ethan, Allison, Luther, Klaus, Diego, Vanya, Grace, Pogo and Reginald walked outside to stand by Ben's coffin. You and the rest of your siblings had tears in your eyes as you all stood around Ben's coffin.
You never expected the day would come where Ben, sweet, kind and innocent Ben who hated harming people, would be murdered right in front of you. He didn't deserve it. Out of all the siblings, he deserved it the least. He hated every mission you went on and hated himself even more for using his powers to harm the people you were required to stop. He didn't deserve to die the way he did, he was too good for that. And along with your siblings, you would carry that with you for the rest of your life.
"Your father is ready to give the eulogy, children" Pogo said "The world is full of injustice. Good people die alone with the bad. The cosmic equation will never change unless evil itself is wiped from existence. Thankfully, there are powerful forces pushing back against the wicked and iniquitous, individuals who have the strength to pull together against insurmountable odds to face adversity with unblinking courage, and not to hesitate to sacrifice themself for another" Reginald said.
Tears felled down from Ethan's eyes as he looked at the coffin while he think back to all those times he spend with Ben.
Ethan wipe the tears away from his eyes before he looked at you thatwere standing frozen while looking down on the ground, your breath was shaking as you were breathing heavily while tears were running down from your eyes.
Ethan wrapped an arm around your shoulder and pulled you closer to him before rubbing his hand up and down on your shoulder "It's okay" he spoke quietly. The tears within his eyes began to well "It's going to be okay" he said even so it was a lie. It wasn't going to be okay. Your lives would be changed forever after this day, there was no question about it.
"Unfortunately none of you are such people. Despite years of training and weeks of preparation, you allowed Number Six to die on this mission" Reginald said "It wasn't our fault" Allison said "Excuses? I will not hear them. The Umbrella Academy has failed one of their own, the consequences of which are dire. Hold on to this feeling, children. Let it fester in your hearts...so there is never a next time. Training will be canceled today out of respect for your brother. We resume tomorrow at 6:00 a.m" Reginald said before he walked back inside.
"It wasn't anybody's fault" Vanya said "How would you know, Vanya? You weren't even on the mission" Diego said and Vanya started whimpered as she walked back inside sad. "Nice going, asshole" Luther said "What? We were all thinking it" Diego said "Oh, so you're thinking, Diego? That's a first" Allison said "Screw you!" Diego said before he went inside "Hey! Dad was right. We should've done more. This didn't have to happen" Luther said as him and Allison went back inside.
