(Dylan's POV)

It was 3AM and I was rudely awoken by my phone going off. It was a text notification. I wondered who was texting me at this hour and I barely looked at the notification and went straight to the iMessage app. It was an unknown number. Who would give anyone my number? I know I didn't give anyone my number. The person sent me a 'Hello.' and a few seconds later my phone gently vibrates and they send 'Is this Dylan Semo Kwon?'. I was scared. How did this person know my full name? I sighed and responded: 'Dad this isn't a funny joke.' Thinking my dad must've used his work phone to pull a prank on me. But, why would he do something like that so late at night. My hair stood, then my phone vibrates again. 'This isn't your dad. I'm Corrie! from school, I found your information in the call sheets. I wanted to ask if you had the papers for the group summer essay.' The person spoke again. I was relieved, but felt stupid for not remembering my group mate's names. It was a summer project to write an essay about plant reproduction and I had finished my part so I responded with an 'Yea, I have it here' and Corrie assured she was just checking on our group mates. I was about to close my phone when she sent me another message. 'See you next year!' Then I turn the phone off. What a weird girl. Couldn't she have waited until tomorrow morning? Well, whatever. I got up to go to the kitchen for a drink. I opened the fridge and got a bottle of water. It was freezing and the night was dark. My phone vibrated in my pocket. Who is it now? I sighed and opened to see Corrie on my message app again. 'Hey, do you want to hang out sometime' She asked. I thought this was awkward, but would it hurt to go out with someone I barely know? Maybe. What if Corrie was a serial murderer psychopath - hence the really early morning messages -. I put my phone down kinda feeling bad for ghosting her but I wanted to think about it first before frolicking about Coretta city with someone I don't even remember meeting. I lay on the couch, sure that my dad was probably dead asleep he wouldn't notice me binge watching a few episodes of some random show I find on Netflix. So I lie there almost motionless watching a drama about doctors and their patients - yes it is indeed Grey's Anatomy -

I woke up to my dad's face pressed against mine. 'The hell are you doing, sleeping on the couch while the TV is on?!" He said rather loudly. 'Well-' I was still not there mentally at that point and I just answered with the classic 'I couldn't sleep so-'.
'So what? You get to sleep on my newly cleaned white couch while the TV is on all night? Think about the electricity bill Semo!' He yelped.
'Dad, I'm sorry okay I didn't know I was gonna fall asleep' I was still not there, mentally 'Gosh Semo!' He waddled to the kitchen. 'You are going to be the death of me!' He dramatised. I got up and went to my room. I'm gonna finish this in my own bed without mister dramatic ruining my dreams with his bad breath.

I woke up finally mentally there. I can see clearly now and my body starts to work. I walked downstairs and dad wasn't there. I check my phone and my heart dropped. Shit, its 3PM already? I was late as hell for work and I was shocked until I realized... It's Saturday and the shop was closed during the weekends. I guess I still wasn't fully mentally there. I went back to my room and sat there on my bed feeling odd. What was I supposed to do today? I looked through my phone and remembered the strange Corrie encounter last night. She sent me a few me messages since last night.

'Hey are you there?'
'Dylan? You okay?'
'Maybe you're asleep. Sorry for bothering you.'
'Hey I'm at your door.'
My heart sank once more at the last message. 'What did she mean by-' My thoughts were cut by the sound of my doorbell. I answered the door to a blonde hair girl wearing jeans and a purple crop top holding a tote-bag. 'Hey Dylan!' She greeted me.
'H-hey.' The awkwardness sets in and it sets in hard,
'I just wanted to know if you're free to hang today.' She said rather un-awkwardly.
'Oh, uh. sure let me just get ready.' I look down at my jeans and shirt from yesterday. I closed the door and gasped. Why did I agree to that?! But it's too late now. I marched to my room for a swift shower - the quickest shower I've taken in my whole life - And got dressed in some baggy jeans and a shirt. I threw in a jacket and dosed myself in perfume, put on my white Air Force 1s and ran straight to the door, hair still wet and everything ready to make the worst decision ever and to experience the most awkward day in history with someone I barely knew. Which I was wrong. It wasn't that bad at all. We walked to the mall rather relaxingly. It was awkward but she started a fun conversation about flowers which tested my social skills but I still managed to do fine. Something about Corrie really made me comfortable a couple of minutes after our conversation started.
'So, do you live around here?' I asked her
'No, I live in the city, wanna come with me to my apartment?' She asked which changed the mood straight to awkwardness again.
'Sorry, that sounded really odd.' She apologised.
'No, it's okay!' I sweated.
We reached the mall and went to the cafe, we sat and ordered some drinks and treats. We started another conversation about the school project and a silly remark about the food we're enjoying. I felt really comfortable with her and her goofy nature.

We walked through the mall, laughing at her jokes and feeling as if I had found a great friend. It was fun, until - I saw Ryan and Marigold. They walked out of the store, Marigold's hand wrapped around Ryan's arm. It was a weird sight and it ruined my great day. Corrie looked at me and asked why I was stopped walking. I took her to the side so they wouldn't spot us and told her why. She came up with a silly prank to show Marigold she isn't as special as she thought she was. Corrie walked over to the couple's direction and I stayed behind to watch the commotion - entertainment, I say! -

Corrie approached Ryan. Grabbing him by the arm and looked into his eyes and it took awhile to process into Marigold's head what was happening.
'You bastard!' She yelled loudly that some of the people in the mall looked in their direction.
'May I help you?' Ryan asks, now confused and embarrassed.
'How dare you Ryan!' She said louder than before
'Ryan who's this?' Marigold Sneered.
'His girlfriend!' Corrie yelped and someone watching gasped loudly.
'Uh, uh! You're mistaken honey this is my man and h's committed to me and loves me! He would never-'
'He sure would if he's committed to you!' Corrie looked Marigold up and down and everyone who was watching gasped in shock. At this point I had already pulled out my phone and recorded the whole thing.
'Please miss you must be mistaken.' Ryan begged
'Yes, this is my baby!' Marigold smirked, grabbing Ryan's hand.
'Same baby he moaned to me last night?' Corrie fired her shots and Marigold gasps in shock. It almost sounded painful.
'Ryan! What the fuck!?' She lets him go.
'I swear babe, I don't know her!' He gasped
'Well, yes starting know I don't know you too, Man slut!' Corrie leaves the murder crime scene after another one of Marigold's pathetic gasps.

Corrie comes back to me and I stopped recording. We giggled and laughed the whole way home. In the end we became good friends and I dropped her home and went on my way. Smiling.
