Okkkk so I am back. I took a step back from Wattpad, but I felt bad leaving this story the way it was, so here y'all go. I also could be convinced to write epilogue..
Anxiety manifests differently in every person. For some, it's going quiet and not wanting to interact with people. For others, it can be a facade of confidence, puffing up thier chest to try to feel bigger. For me, anxiety manifests physically, hands shaking, head throbbing, and stomach clenching.
Knowing that Namjoon is in the hospital for unspecified reasons does a number on me. Not even Michael's kind words can calm me down.
"Breathe for me, Tina," Michael says. I let out an exhale I didn't know I was holding. The knots in my stomach were only getting worse as I imagined every scenario that could send Namjoon to the hospital.
"Do you think someone attacked him?" I asked Michael as I picked up her can of Ginger Ale, surveyed it, and put it down without taking a sip.
Michael un-reclined his seat and turned his entire body to me. We sat at the front of first class in plush blue seats with more legroom than anyone would ever need. I was too preoccupied to ask Micheal how he could get such good seats on short notice.
Michael's face was etched with concern. "Attack him?"
"Like maybe some crazy super fan attacked him, and now he's in the hospital, and I wasn't even there." I knew I was on the verge of tears; Holding them back was a losing battle that I lost as soon as she imagined Namjoon in a hospital bed.
"Hey," Micheal said. He reached out, took my hands into his, and looked into her eyes with such reassurance that it made my heart hurt. "Don't do that, don't go there. Assuming the worst is dangerous. And you will be with him again soon." "Your right," I said.
Micheal smiled and nodded. "When I'm I not."
I let out a chuckle and wiped away the remainder of my tears. I sit back in my seat and look out the window at the billowing white clouds that litter the sky. I had to believe Namjoon was ok. That was the only way I would get through the flight.
After a few hours, where I did nothing but sit in my chair and try to remember to breathe, Micheal and I landed in England. With only our carry-on bags, we rush out of the airplane in a frenzy. Jungkook had sent me the hospital's address, so we caught a cab and headed straight there.
Before we got to the front desk, Micheal pulled off the ring he was wearing and put it on my finger.
"Follow my lead," he said.
My headache only seemed to amplify. My hands wouldn't stop shaking, and I now twisted the ring on my ring finger, hoping for it to calm me down. It didn't work.
"I'm here to see Kim Namjoon," I said. The nurse looked Micheal and me up and down. She had short blonde hair and wore wireframe glasses. She seemed unimpressed with our haggard appearance and suitcases. She typed on her computer, and after minutes that dragged on for eternity, she finally spoke.
"Are you family?" she asked. "You can't see him unless you are family."
"My sister is his fiance," Micheal said. He lifted up my hand and pointed at the ring on my finger. "And if you don't believe us feel free to ask the members of BTS, who we know are here."The nurse paused for a second, probably trying to figure out if we were legit or just some crazy gossip site doing anything to get the latest scoop. She must have decided that we weren't bullshitting because she gave us Namjoon's information.
"Down the hall, last door on the right," she whispered as she looked around to make sure no one was listening.
"Thank you." I barely choked out the words of gratitude before I dragged Michael down the hall. We enter the room to see BTS laughing and smiling as they surround Namjoon, who lies in the hospital. He looked pale and wore a cast on his leg. Besides the apparent injury, he seemed ok. He was talking vibrantly and using his hands to emphasize his point.
Namjoon saw me, and his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Tiana, Why are you here? I thought you were back in the States," he said.
Jungkook looked down at the floor sheepishly. "When you passed out, I kind of freaked out and called Tiana."
"Jungkook," Namjoon said in a scolding tone.
I walked over to the left of his bedside, where Jin and Suga were standing.
"Hey," I said. "Don't be mad at Jungkook. He was worried, and seeing that you broke your leg, it seemed he had a good reason to be."
I took Namjoon's hand and held it in mine. The boys seemed to take this as a sign to head out, and they exited the hospital room quietly. Jin patted me on the back as he left. I heard the door close and imminently went in for a kiss.
What should have been a quick peck turned into something more. I pulled away, and he chased my lips.
"What the hell happened, Namjoon?" I tried to keep the concern out of my voice, but it bled in any way.
"We were practicing for a surprise performance. I tripped and sprained my leg. When I was going down, my head hit the stage, causing me to pass out. Luckily I don't have a concussion. But I will have to wear this cast for a while. I also broke part of a stage; I have a way of destroying things." He explained as he took my hand and his thumb rubbed circles on the back of it.
"Don't ever scare me like that again," I demanded.
Namjoon smiled. "I don't plan to."
The glistening of Micheals's ring on my hand caught his eye. Namjoon was looking at the ring with wonder and uncertainty.
"Oh," I said, suddenly I was very self-conscious. "I-I, um, lied to get in here. Said we were married; I know it was stupid; let me take this ring off."
I start to pull the ring off when Namjoon suddenly stops me. "It suits you. Leave it."
My heart was beating louder than a freight train, and I stopped trying to pull the ring off my finger.
"What are you saying," I asked.
Namjoon smiles, and I melt a little. "I'm saying I'm going to need to buy you a new ring. But for now, this one will do."
"Namjoon?" I said with a hint of hesitation. He was implying something of a great magnitude that would change our lives forever. Dating was one thing, but marriage?
"Tiana, when you started out as a translator, I liked you, and through our time together, I have grown to love you. I don't see that love ending, and I hope you feel the same. So, I have only one question,"
I hold my breath.
"Will you marry me?"
I exhale. "Yes!"
We embraced, and he scooted over on the hospital bed to make room for me. And although the wedding proposal was far from what I imagined, it felt right for us. As I looked at the ring on my finger and the man by my side, I knew that we would be alright no matter what the future holds.
Do y'all want a wedding scene?? Lmk
